Post by: Jim on June 04, 2011, 09:13:38 AM
Mark ,
Why isnt James H Reeve king of the world and are do you know if we are any nearer to getting a statue of Frank put up in Timperley village?
also, when can we expect the"4 Counts" cd to get the mono/stereo remaster with extra tracks treatment ? a box set of the sessions would be interesting ::)

james h reeve is, to my mind, one of the truly great radio presenters and little know outside the north west.
myself and marc riley did get him a show with Tommy Docherty as Jim and the Doc on 5Live but it didn;t last long.
Jim seems to manage to fall out with the bosses of radio stations wherever he goes - which i think is probably to his credit - but hasn't helped his career.

I can understand your desire for Four Counts rarities.
For those of you who don't know, The Four Counts was a fictitious beat group from the Wirral featuring two sets of brothers:
Skip and Cecil Lee (bass and lead guitar respectively, both in reality Chris Lee)
and Barrie and Jack Lantern (Vox/gtr and drums, both me)
We made one album on Gott Discs called 'Out for the Counts' and we are totally proud of it.
It started because someone said the hardest thing to write was a three minute pop song and we thought that was b*****ks so wrote ten of them in a week and recorded it in stolen BBC studio time in about three or four days.
We do talk about a second one..but then...we talk about a lot of things.

And a brilliant show it was too.
My memory is probably mixed up, but I thought it was on R5, and was killed off by the dread hand of Fivelive when that started. Could be wrong though.
Anyway, the current borefest that is Fivelive could only be improved by getting JHR back.
