Mark I agree with Abby. You and Stuart are greatly missed in the R2 evening slot. The BBC take away east mids Mon night folk prog and then they move you! Apart from Mike Harding what have we got left?
And how do you put on half a stone on the coast to coast? I lost half a stone training for it and another half stone doing it!

i know a lot of people used to like to cook/wind-down/drink to us but fair's fair - we wanted to be at home to do that too.

The great Scottish singer and broadcaster Jimmie MacGregor did a series for Scottish television on walking the West Highland Way (contrary to some stories, it's not an adjective). It was enough to inspire a very good friend of mine to follow in MacGregor's footsteps. Unfortunately he chose to do so in June and his encounters with midges were enough to make this otherwise humble, passive, man swear a bloody revenge the next time he encountered said folksinger.

Jimmie is still around, and looking astonishingly youthful for a man of 80+ years.

You're right, it's just the luddite in me who doesn't use listen again as much as i should.I shall try and change, who knows you may even start to download.
As for wanting to be home  with the family....... not v rock and roll is it!! Did John Bonham, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi want to be at home with the family! Ah bit of a theme there, I see your point.
Re walking, I have done 'strange' walks recently e.g Wye Valley, a circuit of the Isle Of Wight (mainly lovely and then u have to walk down Ryde sea front) and i regularly walk stretches of the south west path (Penzance to St Ives is a fave)Don't believe i said fave but its too late now

At the risk of going off topic, i suppose most of us get locked in to a particular music time period or genre. Given your eclectic taste can you give 5 new(ish) bands you would want to see in a festival line up?

That's good advice there Mark, i miss you on a Weds night. But I liked the 'live interaction' of the show - you even read out one of my tweets once (about Jackie Oates singing Happy Birthday). Still, better than nowt.
