Title: But seriously Post by: YaBB Master (Colin) on June 09, 2011, 11:20:37 AM Would you like to release an album of non-drinking-songs?
Have you got a backlog of songs that didn't fit in with previous bands? I'm sure that you mentioned this years ago. Title: Re: But seriously Post by: djmahone on June 10, 2011, 05:48:31 PM as it happens the answer is yes.
i've just released a solo record called 'what remains of the day'. it's on 101 records like all the mahones stuff - thanks to mike johnson's boundless enthusiasm at 101 - cheers mike. these are songs that didn't fit the mahones really - although there are two on there, 'On Middlewich Locks' and 'Fitzrovia' which have been performed at mahones gigs. the others are either ones i've had knocking around for a while or things i've written very recently - since the mahones went on indefinite hiatus. i recorded it at babbacombe studios in chester with my great friend and enabler chris lee of mahones and full house. there are also appearances from ian jones of full house on melodeon, lizzie hoskin who is my producer but has played violin with badly drwan boy and doves, and john jobson who is the harmonica player in my r'n'b band the big figures. chris and i recently did a little tour as a duo doing these songs, mahones songs and readings from my new book 'Reelin' in the years'. we really enjoyed the intimacy of it and so we will be out again for a week's dates at the end of november. not sure where yet but it will be the south of england - places we never got to with the mahones. i think andover was mentioned but will let you know when dates confirmed. Would recommend it to anyone if they come your way.

Well you kept that quiet. Which isn't always a good thing with a CD. Make a note that you can always drop by here and announce it in 'Announce'. If your willing to come south, we'll go north. London village has a couple of small halls. Lady YaBB and I had a fine night out seeing the Mahones at a canal side shed. She got chatted up by some hippy wench and I got a free hat. Edit: Nail on the head.
