According to some on the FC list, JD played Woodstock(the one in upstate New York not the one in Oxfordshire).
Does anyone know who he played with? i must admit i never knew, still you live and learn.

Never heard that before and wondering if someone got confused with Bruce Rowland...who did actually play at Woodstock with Joe Cocker?

I've just tweeted him and asked....

I've certainly never heard that if it is true - Bruce was definitely always the answer to 'Which member of FC played the Woodstock Festival?' questions when I were a lad...  :)

Only way I could see it is if he appeared with one of the bands I have no idea who was in them. Skipping the well known bands, there were the following-Sweetwater, Bert Sommer, Tim Hardin, Melanie, Quill, John Sebastian, Keef Hartley Band. Now a few of those I have heard of, but I have certainly never seen any of them on Jerry's resume, unless he jammed with someone, or might it be possible he was in Incredible Strings Band circle at that point by association and joined them on stage?

Jerry is listed as playing with Keef Hartley, but I don't know if it was in the Woodstock line-up.

He's not on any of the KHB albums, but that doesn't mean anything of course.

He wasn't previously known as Swami Satchidananda, was he?   :)

grease band, Henry Mc Culloch(sp?), Bruce R, Chris Stainton, Alan Spenner, Neil Hubbard, would be my best guess without looking at the video!

I can see what you've done there, Jim, but I think (someone will tell me if i'm wrong i'm sure!) you're answering a question that Robert didn't actually ask (those 3 dots confuse the issue slightly).

Ah the dots....see, just used them again! David is correct, so sorry for the confusion. I was trying to say that Bruce had played at Woodstock for sure with the Grease Band. I don't remember the exact quote but on the Cropredy Box Ashley in his intro for Bruce made a comment about some of the substances from Woodstock still being in Bruce's beard!  ;)

I can name the other 500,000 who were there. Just first names mind. Moonchild, Moonflower. Chiffon, Heavenlyflower, Starchild, Rosetatoo, Angel dust,........Derek....Malcolm etc

Was it not The Grease Band's bass player who unloaded fourteen pints and a vindaloo onto Bruce's floor tom?

And dont forget Wally , someone was always looking for him at early festivals. ;D ;D

I think Wally was last spotted at the Penny Concert at Birmingham Town Hall in 1971, in the crowd watching the gloriously demented  Demon Fuzz (I kid you not, I was there!!!)  :o

it doesn't matter a jot. The FC board had a remark about Alvin Lee's death and someone looking for a FC connection(they always look for FC connections  ::) ) remarked that the only thing they could think of was that both him(Alvin) and JD played at Woodstock, which was news to me as i would have thought that it would have been fairly common knowledge and i was under the impression that the only FC bod at Max's was Bruce Rowland.

Also, news thatr he and his daughter Kristina are going touring as a duo - to include dates in the UK.

Thanks to Bruce Rowland, every member of FC past and present is no more than 2 degrees of Woodstock.

Certainly not, I just wondered if I had missed something as nobody seemed to notice it, for almost 2 pages.
So I know who Jerry Donahue is and I know that Ashley is the Guv'nor or Tyger, RT was Henry long, long ago etc.
But sometimes there are nicknames on lists that I don't know about.
What was that Simon Nicol nickname again?

The only connection between FC and Alvin that I know of is that both bands played at my last gig with FC in Rome at the Stade de thingy. I sat with TYA on the flight out..  ::)
