Title: RT on Mastertapes Post by: Dan O. on May 29, 2013, 04:21:41 PM From FC's site :
"Ex-Fairport Richard Thompson will feature in 'Mastertapes', the BBC Radio 4 series in which leading performers and songwriters talk about their most significant album. Recorded in front of a studio audience, 'Mastertapes' includes interviews by presenter John Wilson plus exclusive live performances by the artist concerned. Each show is broadcast in two sessions. In the first, Wilson discusses the album with the artist; in the second session, it is the audience asking the questions. Richard's episodes will be broadcast on Monday 10 June and Tuesday 11 June. He'll be talking about the 1991 album 'Rumor And Sigh'. Monday's show can be heard at 11pm and Tuesday's follow-up goes out at 3.30pm." I was lucky enough to be at the recording for this at Maida Vale back in February, a splendid evening, well worth a listen ! Shame it seems to be quite well hidden in the schedules... (Not particularly relevant trivia : Mastertapes presenter John Wilson is the son of Bob Wilson, former Arsenal keeper turned well-known sports anchorman :) ) Title: Re: RT on Mastertapes Post by: ColinB on July 08, 2013, 10:55:29 AM I just got round to listening to the B-side part of the show with the audience asking questions. Interesting to hear his thoughts on the popularity of MOTL. It sounds like it's not one he likes playing much himself and he says he doesn't understand what the song is about as it was written by his adolescent self.
And I was pleased to hear that he likes Dinosaur Jr's cover of "I Misunderstood". It's a cracking version. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b02mxyzm The MOTL bit starts at 15:45 Title: Re: RT on Mastertapes Post by: Jules Gray on July 08, 2013, 10:58:51 AM I just got round to listening to the B-side part of the show with the audience asking questions. I really must remember to have a listen to this soon. Thanks for the reminder, Colin. Jules |
