Title: Dave Mattacks: 2 hour radio special
Post by: forever young on May 06, 2014, 05:03:46 PM
As Dave Mattacks celebrated his 66th birthday  {:-) in March I decided to produce a special about him for my radio show "Forever Young - Folk, Rock, Blues and Vinyl Rarities" on http://www.radio-ludwigsburg-bw.de. It includes parts of an interview I did with him. Lots of informations are based on exchanged e-mails with him. It's 2 hours of music, and everything features D.M. In one of the interview snippets D.M. demonstrates what he does from time to time when a song is in 4/4's to make it more lively.
The programme will be broadcast on wednesday, May 7th from 8:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. (CET; english time 7 till 9), and again on saturday, May 10th from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. (CET; english time 5 till 7).

It's worth a listen !!!!!
:P

My show comes regularely every week and features old and news in Folk, Rock and Blues.

I'm very very very happy on how enthusiastic you all have reacted about the fact that there is a 2 hour radio special about DM. I will never forget your feedback !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't speak for 'all' of us, but I read your initial announcement with interest and - in a perfect world - would have loved to have settled down at the scheduled time to listen. Unfortunately, I don't live in a perfect world  :( If it's technically possible, please send us a link so that we can 'listen again'. I've always admired DM and would be very happy to give feedback on your programme.

Sadly I was also unable to listen in at the allotted times...I'd welcome an opportunity to listen to the programme.

Thanks, dude.

I don't know about anybody else, but I find it so hard to watch/listen to TV/radio shows at the actual broadcast time these days.  I've grown so accustomed to the likes of iPlayer and Listen Again, that I've drifted off into a serene lagoon of leisure time where the world revolves around me.

Just another first world problem...

Jules

Won't be near a computer either of those times!  But thanks, please keep posting any other broadcast dates, or if there's ever a way to download it, please let us know.

My radio special includes parts of an interview I did with D.M. He mentions the XTC recordings as one of his favourites

Legend? A marriage made in heaven. On his recent live at Rockpalast cd DM is behind the traps and that band plays on side 2 of legend.

Hey, I DID get to hear the broadcast today!  Very nice (though I don't understand German).  Thanks so much.  And, after staring at it for who knows how long, I realized that the station is from Ludwigsburg, Germany.  Know the town well,  I lived there for a few months in 1978, busking in the little mall there and then going down to Stuttgart to make a little better money, had a local girlfriend I met there (do you know an Annette Kobele?), it was a wonderful time of my youth.

:DAlthough I grew up in Ludwigsburg and live there now I wasn't there in 1978. That was the time I was in berlin. So I don't remember you as a busker. Probably it was in the Marstall Center south of the market place. I don't know the name of the girl as well. If you want me to find her, let me know. I can ask friends if they know her name. Thanks for the compliments about my radio show ! :P I do it every week hoping to present good music with roots, and not just the greatest hits that most stations play all day long. [;-)

Yes, I'd love to have you try to find her!  My first love, really.  It may be tough, though, I heard many years later that she became a Rajneeshee, somehow I doubt she's in Ludwigsburg any longer.

Sounds terrible. Rajneshee bio terror attack in 1984 ? Or what ?
