Title: Re: Quill Post by: David W on August 13, 2017, 01:46:52 PM Oh dearie, dearie me. What a load of twaddle, as Father Ted would say "Down with this sort of thing".
Title: Re: Quill Post by: blagden on August 13, 2017, 02:36:02 PM I've seen them in a couple of occasions and that's been my view as well.
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Poor Will (Bill) on August 13, 2017, 04:02:54 PM If I'd seen them in my local pub I'd probably have enjoyed them, but not really up to Cropredy standard.
Title: Re: Quill Post by: mickf on August 13, 2017, 04:11:33 PM Fairly inoffensive, but pretty missable, IMHO
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Will S on August 13, 2017, 04:12:35 PM Must admit I can't really remember them- which pretty much says it all.
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Nick Reg on August 13, 2017, 05:24:46 PM The singer sounded like she should have fronted a blues band not a pixie prog twaddle merchant.
Title: Re: Quill Post by: tony the roundhead on August 13, 2017, 06:28:03 PM Enjoyable to a point. Nice to see Bev Bevan play congas and Clive Bunker take the drums for a while.
Title: Re: Quill Post by: David Bean on August 13, 2017, 08:28:50 PM Not my thing... but it was lovely to see them having their moment in the sun!
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Jim on August 13, 2017, 08:33:51 PM Oh dearie, dearie me. What a load of twaddle, as Father Ted would say "Down with this sort of thing". This. i wondered who the bloke who came on, to great fanfare, to play inappropriate bongos was! thanks Tony Title: Re: Quill Post by: Bingers (Chris) on August 14, 2017, 02:20:58 PM Only woke up when Bev Bevan was introduced but no idea if they actually played any songs in their set!
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Chris on August 14, 2017, 02:32:10 PM Did you see Bev's hairdo? Oh dear......
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Bingers (Chris) on August 14, 2017, 02:48:56 PM Did you see Bev's hairdo? Oh dear...... Yeah...mind you if I had any decent hair left maybe I would coiff it like that.....although on second thoughts.. Title: Re: Quill Post by: Chris on August 14, 2017, 03:01:49 PM you reckon it was real? :-o
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Bingers (Chris) on August 14, 2017, 03:10:02 PM Hadn't thought of that...maybe that's why he played the congos rather than the drums in case 'is barnet fell off ;D
Title: Re: Quill Post by: davidmjs on August 14, 2017, 03:15:19 PM Bev looked ancient the last time I ever saw him play (w/Black Sabbath, Reading Festival, 1983), although me being 16 at the time might have something to do with that.
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Paul on August 14, 2017, 10:12:37 PM Didn't grab me at all. In fact, the only bit I can remember is Bev Bevan coming on. The music just passed me by.
Paul Title: Re: Quill Post by: issy on August 15, 2017, 12:57:20 PM I read a comment elsewhere that Mr Plant is connected to the band..
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Bingers (Chris) on August 15, 2017, 02:59:43 PM I read a comment elsewhere that Mr Plant is connected to the band.. Now if he had turned up that would have raised interest levels considerably :o Title: Re: Quill Post by: Chris on August 15, 2017, 03:33:34 PM He did.....I shook his hand :-o
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Bingers (Chris) on August 15, 2017, 04:04:48 PM He did.....I shook his hand :-o Really oh I wish he'd have ventured on stage at some point, it's a long time since I've seen him singing live (1991 I think it was at Knebworth) Title: Re: Quill Post by: Pastieboy (Trev) on August 15, 2017, 08:19:24 PM Not my first time seeing them by a long way . I quite like them . Good music whilst mingling amongst the crowds . Yep IMHO not bad at all .
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Roy C on August 17, 2017, 11:58:11 PM I thought their rendition of Bells of Rhymney was absolutely spot on - the best musical surprise of the weekend for me, and a great opener to their set. They slowly lost me after that, but they were worth it just for the first song imho.
Title: Re: Quill Post by: Chris on August 18, 2017, 09:35:29 AM By far the best of their set.....
Title: Re: Quill Post by: bassline (Mike) on September 01, 2017, 05:11:59 PM I never got round to seeing Quill...they've been around for years, and people kept telling me that if I like prog and folk I should see them. I was under the impression that Bev was going to be the full time drummer, but at least they squeezed him in..just. They were alright, I didn't dislike them, I wasn't amazed....just about right for that spot on the bill.
