The label is shown as Commercial Marketing which is what usually shows up for one of the big conglomerates (Polygram I think) so it looks legit. I am guessing a compilation from the Island years of the various Dylan covers. Would that be enough to fill an album if live and BBC recordings were included?

Yeah, I missed out Cropredy performances (apart from Brougton Castle) because I think they are unlikely to be included but you never know. Have the two in bold been officially released? If so they must be on editions that I don't have.



Edit: I see Lay Down was on Disc 4 of the BBC set. Excluded from my digital collection on sound quality grounds along with much of the other material on that disc

Both of them can be found on the Fairport Unconventional box.  But yes, the Cropredy performances may not make it onto the collection.  But I thought I'd list them all (that I know of or have) anyway.

Add "Open The Door, Richard" from "Red & Gold"

Pretty much as expected then. Given that they have included "solo" recordings, it is a pity they could not find room for The Albion Band's version of Seven Curses or Ashley's Ballad In Plain D, either of which would have been preferable to the woeful version of All Along The Watchtower from last year's box.

The sleeve art also seems misleading as various line ups are represented. It all seems a bit of a pointless excercise. I'll probably still buy it.  ::)

…we live in an age of the curated life to which this CD is one such thing…idea…oh whatever...

I rather think I might just knock up my own copy of this from my cds, having got the cover.

I haven't got the George Jackson track, but apart from that, I have the rest already.

Can't see buying this for one track.



Edit: It's an additional track from a later version of Nine than mine, but I have retrieved it via a pal. Definitely not in the market for this album.

I constructed it as a playlist yesterday. It is a surprisingly dull listen and gives a distorted view of the band. Swarb, for example, despite playing on several of the recordings, is barely present here.

You lot are fast off the mark  - I just saw it in a Spin mailing and they're often way ahead (No, I don't buy anything from them).

HArd to see who this is aimed at really, except Fairport completists.
