Title: Great canal journeys
Post by: Wandering Steve on October 20, 2019, 08:19:28 PM
Trip along the oxford canal
They stopped at cropredy and were joined by members of fairport.
Simon sang WKWTTG and it sounded very good to be fair, best I’ve heard him sing it.

Watching it now... wonderful to know that Timothy West and Prunella actually like Fairport.

Good to see bits of the festival and the village too.

So great to see the enduring love of the couple despite the difficulties faced in older age.

Just watched on 4 +1, as my mum text to tell me it was on.

Lovely to hear Simon and the boys doing an intimate rendition of WKWTTG... it sounded so beautiful! I love them so much!

I just turned it on because I saw the route they were taking in the listing.

It made a change to see Fairport represented faithfully and the lads couldn't have been any more poignant. That and it also featured the Wey & Arun canal, that I'm involved with.

If that is the Canal Journeys epilogue, then perfect.

I expected it to be a bit corny but it was truly moving, and of all the repertoire, they couldn't have chosen a more fitting piece. Lovely.

Just watched it on demand. Beautifully done, chaps. Very best wishes and much love to Pru and Timothy.

The song was indeed moving, especially given Pru's dementia's growing impact on their lives. I found it a very sad programme.

Always moved by these two.  Must watch this one on catch up.

Thanks for alerting us to this … much enjoyed. I remember having moored in the village the day before the festival as easily as you please, only a "few" years ago ^-^

I thought that was very moving. I certainly had a tear in my eye, as did Dominic at one point.

I did like Tim's daughter's comment about Pru steering into a lock. :)

It did throw me a bit having the canal out of order though.

It was a wonderful version of Who Knows.... one of the best I've seen anywhere.
