Just in case anybody is wondering what 'The Toast' is.

Well it started fifteen years ago, with members of TalkAwhile gathering at the Cropredy bar to remember somebody we had lost that year and over the years this has become all inclusive, not only remembering people from the Cropredy family, but also those lost to individuals.

The toast is 'Absent Friends'.

This year has been especially hard and so the toast has to be done, even though we can't be there. So it will be in the official Fairport stream. There will be a short history of the tradition, but will finish with the toast. Everybody please be there and raise your glasses.

At the toast, traditionally there is a collection for the Teenage Cancer Trust. This year please donate at www.toast.org.uk (http://www.toast.org.uk)

My First alarm of the day is set. Taken from Richard Digance's Facebook page just now:

We missed to send our hanky-waving film in, didn’t clock that it was by 9th Aug!

Saw a cow shirt (red headed lady) down by the river in Chester on our morning constitutional....  As us Deadheads say, we are everywhere!

This wasn't the hanky waving, I believe thats something to do with radio Oxford but I'm not certain, It was Richard singing and sharing some thoughts with us, it is available on his facebook page.

It was a great way to start our Cropredy Saturday - Digance, coffee & bacon rolls  {:-)

Yes, I knew they weren’t together but just seeing RD was doing a bit this morning reminded me, I forgot to post our video for the hanky waving.


I googled Richard Digance we are searching Cropredy 2020 and Google turned it into ‘We are searching for PREY 2020”  ;D

I thought his instrumental piece at the end mentioning many people who we have lost was very poignant and moving...have to admit it brought a tear to my eye

I was in bits!!  It wasn't a tear, it was a deluge!!

Great to see the RT set. Missed it last year due to slight tent-blown-down problems.  Happy memories  :o  :)

Ric mentioning Jude has got me all watery of the eye, so I'll take a mo to raise a glass to her (  :-* ) and all of you (it's  Jack Daniel's Tennessee Apple - I shouldn't be drinking - but what the heck - I can't decide if it's gross enough to qualify as a toast drink, mind you.)
It was a treat to be able to see R.T's set and, I'm sure, F.C's in a bit, as I was stuck in my tent in Field 4 last year missing it all.

It has been a glorious day, but a sea-haar engulfed us during RT’s set so it’s like something from James Herbert now. I will blame the maestro, of course  :)

This is really great; sitting in the garden, projector on, beer at hand, and WhatsApp chat with my usual Cropredy gang who are scattered around the country. Loved the toast, and here’s to you lot and better times next year.

Maarts tribute brought tears... missed most of it last year cos of a bunch  of entitled snowflakes who strolled in from the sidelines cos they wanted to see the screen (by blocking the view of twice their number.)
It.'s amazing the little details missed at the time, great to see it in all its detail and glory now.
And i was thinking back to last year, a lot of people had to reluctantly pack up and go home before the Fairport' set cos their tents had been destroyed  - so hopefully they're watching now...

Yeah....just seen the Maart bit. Hail Maaart !  :'(

Loving every minute, strange how much we missed from last year,but we were situated in a wind tunnel near the generators and the wind was affecting the sound. Think I may be about tearful at the end....

Well, that’s the warmest I’ve ever been watching the last set... Saw so much more than I saw at the time as well. Well done to all those involved!!!

That was great, thank-you to those who organised it. As others have said, good to see last year’s set close up.

I loved the tour of the field and all the t-shirt pics, spotting TAW people...but I am sure I saw one TWICE! (shame we didn’t get round to the t-shirts ourselves).

We ought to have a thread of photos from tonight in our various gardens and things . Night all  :)

LOL. I  put on a jumper and cap and went outside to the summer seat with my tablet and earphones cos it just didn't feel right sitting inside...

Don't forget to give your tents a good airing. They'll get mildew from yesterday morning's drizzle otherwise.

My son came round to see us earlier this afternoon. If things had been 'normal' the two of us would have been driving home from Cropredy today. It's strange to think he was 4 years old when we first attended the festival and now he's 40!

Sat in the awning down Devon flicking between Scott Doonicans Cropredy special and the Cropredy Connection, great night of entertainment finishing of with that wonderful version of MOTL. I even got to pack up the caravan this morning in the rain, just like being there!

Thanks to the chaps for a great gig and to Johnny Gale and Nev Bull  for making the connection.

PS does anyone know what the "interval"music (played at the beginning and between video clips) was?
Sure I've heard it before, but can't place it.

Some parts were definitely an instrumental arrangement of  Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish you were here’ ...not sure if that was all the way through, nor by whom it was performed.

Just watched the Fairport set from last night again (3x if you include being there last year) and it’s still superb -  all of it (well except maybe Peggy singing Polly on the Shore but, hey I can forgive that seeing as how good the rest was!)

Oops... 🤣

We enjoyed every minute... starting at 2pm in the garden with friends, music, BBQ,
Laughter, chatting, memories and moving indoors later where we toasted and drank and watched avidly,
The whole day and night was just a very special substitute, thanks to everyone that worked hard to bring this to us...

We will never forget it and what a wonderful party we will have on the field next year!

Well it finally came home to me today! Looking on wìkipedia.. Fairport are now 4 members!,  so sad! Gerry  was always the big bass drum in smaller  venues hit you right on the breast! I am so sorry to miss him, but Gerry wish you the best of luck for the future! Remember your  amazing tales with you and Peggy in Blackpool a few years ago xx love you Gerry..always the quiet guy....but actually the noisier guy....love love love you !! Keep in touch,!?
