Title: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: YaBB Master (Colin) on August 13, 2020, 08:58:39 AM The YouTube channel for Saturday night at Virtual Cropredy starts at 7:25pm Click Here (https://youtu.be/Al6UjxGHEts)
19.25 Stream begins 19.30 Toast to 'Absent Friends' 19.35 Richard Thompson - Cropredy 2019 with special guests Zara Phillips, Simon Nicol, Dave Pegg and Dave Mattacks 21.05 Postcards from the band 21.15 T Shirt Montage 21.20 Message from the Fairport Office. 21.26 Fairport Convention and Friends - Cropredy 2019. Just in case anybody is wondering what 'The Toast' is. Well it started fifteen years ago, with members of TalkAwhile gathering at the Cropredy bar to remember somebody we had lost that year and over the years this has become all inclusive, not only remembering people from the Cropredy family, but also those lost to individuals. The toast is 'Absent Friends'. This year has been especially hard and so the toast has to be done, even though we can't be there. So it will be in the official Fairport stream. There will be a short history of the tradition, but will finish with the toast. Everybody please be there and raise your glasses. At the toast, traditionally there is a collection for the Teenage Cancer Trust. This year please donate at www.toast.org.uk (http://www.toast.org.uk) Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: madsue on August 13, 2020, 09:12:44 AM Thanks Yabb, all set up now, though I don't have anything horrible to toast with!

The hanky waving is on Radio Oxford's YouTube page Yes, I knew they weren’t together but just seeing RD was doing a bit this morning reminded me, I forgot to post our video for the hanky waving. I googled Richard Digance we are searching Cropredy 2020 and Google turned it into ‘We are searching for PREY 2020” ;D Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Bingers (Chris) on August 15, 2020, 06:03:20 PM My First alarm of the day is set. Missed it last year due to slight tent-blown-down problems. Happy memories :o :)
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: bassline (Mike) on August 15, 2020, 09:28:42 PM I'm just paused for a second after Chris Leslie's postcard.
Ric mentioning Jude has got me all watery of the eye, so I'll take a mo to raise a glass to her ( :-* ) and all of you (it's Jack Daniel's Tennessee Apple - I shouldn't be drinking - but what the heck - I can't decide if it's gross enough to qualify as a toast drink, mind you.) It was a treat to be able to see R.T's set and, I'm sure, F.C's in a bit, as I was stuck in my tent in Field 4 last year missing it all. Cheers everyone, Love and cuddles ! Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Lubiloo (Lorna) on August 15, 2020, 09:39:02 PM It has been a glorious day, but a sea-haar engulfed us during RT’s set so it’s like something from James Herbert now. I will blame the maestro, of course :)
Enjoying the show. Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: PaulT on August 15, 2020, 09:54:11 PM I'm just paused for a second after Chris Leslie's postcard. Mike - no, it's not gross enough - but hey, who's watching?! Take care, and we'll see you next year! Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Will S on August 15, 2020, 10:09:42 PM Watching it here with the family. May be the closest I get to getting any of them to the field!
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Adam on August 15, 2020, 10:22:07 PM This is really great; sitting in the garden, projector on, beer at hand, and WhatsApp chat with my usual Cropredy gang who are scattered around the country. Loved the toast, and here’s to you lot and better times next year.
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: StephenB on August 15, 2020, 11:09:14 PM Maarts tribute brought tears... missed most of it last year cos of a bunch of entitled snowflakes who strolled in from the sidelines cos they wanted to see the screen (by blocking the view of twice their number.)
It.'s amazing the little details missed at the time, great to see it in all its detail and glory now. And i was thinking back to last year, a lot of people had to reluctantly pack up and go home before the Fairport' set cos their tents had been destroyed - so hopefully they're watching now... Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: bassline (Mike) on August 15, 2020, 11:30:14 PM Yeah....just seen the Maart bit. Hail Maaart ! :'(
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Bernie on August 15, 2020, 11:39:03 PM Loving every minute, strange how much we missed from last year, but we were situated in a wind tunnel near the generators and the wind was affecting the sound. Think I may be about tearful at the end....
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: bob_g on August 16, 2020, 12:07:18 AM Well, that’s the warmest I’ve ever been watching the last set... Saw so much more than I saw at the time as well. Well done to all those involved!!!
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Lubiloo (Lorna) on August 16, 2020, 12:09:52 AM That was great, thank-you to those who organised it. As others have said, good to see last year’s set close up.
I loved the tour of the field and all the t-shirt pics, spotting TAW people...but I am sure I saw one TWICE! (shame we didn’t get round to the t-shirts ourselves). We ought to have a thread of photos from tonight in our various gardens and things . Night all :) Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: StephenB on August 16, 2020, 12:14:44 AM Well, that’s the warmest I’ve ever been watching the last set... I put on a jumper and cap and went outside to the summer seat with my tablet and earphones cos it just didn't feel right sitting inside... Red & Gold, Wat Tyler, Honour & Praise and The Wounded Whale particular highlights... Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Will S on August 16, 2020, 12:15:46 PM Really enjoyed it - many thanks to all who made it happen!
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: mickf on August 16, 2020, 12:21:49 PM I couldn't watch last night, but I've managed to see most of it this morning. Great to see the sets and the messages. Well done to all who organised the toast etc.
I was fourth one up in the t shirt show. I got covered up pretty fast, though ;D ;D [;-) Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: madsue on August 16, 2020, 12:34:19 PM Amazing night.

I suppose there’s more than one in the crowd ;D
Love the MOTL, just going to send it to our family from Lancs, whom we normally meet, in case they did not see it. Xxx Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Nick on August 16, 2020, 02:19:35 PM Don't forget to give your tents a good airing. They'll get mildew from yesterday morning's drizzle otherwise.
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: mickf on August 16, 2020, 04:12:48 PM My son came round to see us earlier this afternoon. If things had been 'normal' the two of us would have been driving home from Cropredy today. It's strange to think he was 4 years old when we first attended the festival and now he's 40!
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Addie on August 16, 2020, 07:51:59 PM Sat in the awning down Devon flicking between Scott Doonicans Cropredy special and the Cropredy Connection, great night of entertainment finishing of with that wonderful version of MOTL. I even got to pack up the caravan this morning in the rain, just like being there!
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: steve-n on August 16, 2020, 08:07:20 PM Thanks to the chaps for a great gig and to Johnny Gale and Nev Bull for making the connection.
PS does anyone know what the "interval"music (played at the beginning and between video clips) was? Sure I've heard it before, but can't place it. Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Lubiloo (Lorna) on August 16, 2020, 08:14:55 PM Some parts were definitely an instrumental arrangement of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish you were here’ ...not sure if that was all the way through, nor by whom it was performed.
Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: Bingers (Chris) on August 16, 2020, 09:29:34 PM Just watched the Fairport set from last night again (3x if you include being there last year) and it’s still superb - all of it (well except maybe Peggy singing Polly on the Shore but, hey I can forgive that seeing as how good the rest was!)

Laughter, chatting, memories and moving indoors later where we toasted and drank and watched avidly, The whole day and night was just a very special substitute, thanks to everyone that worked hard to bring this to us... We will never forget it and what a wonderful party we will have on the field next year! Title: Re: Fairport's Cropredy Connection Post by: steve-n on August 17, 2020, 07:59:19 PM Some parts were definitely an instrumental arrangement of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish you were here’ ...not sure if that was all the way through, nor by whom it was performed.
