Title: Help with a 'slip jig' Post by: Greg E on September 13, 2023, 10:18:01 AM Hi all
A while back I posted on Youtube a set of jigs that Steeleye performed live. There are 3 tunes: Bank Of Ireland (Robbery With violins) / A Slip Jig / Wild Irishman (actuall O'Roukes but it s a long story going back to 1936!) Anyway, I have never been able to identify the Slip Jig in the middle, and someone I know is convinced Fairport have used it, can any one identify the middle tune??!! cheers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgGlACS4yiY Title: Re: Help with a 'slip jig' Post by: Jim on September 13, 2023, 04:03:40 PM That fine old Irish tune, the cow that are the blanket.
Title: Re: Help with a 'slip jig' Post by: StephenB on September 13, 2023, 07:01:58 PM I have to respectfully disagree Jim - anywhere I've looked the Cow that Ate the Blanket is a double jig. I'll keep looking for the slip jig cos it's familiar to me and it's annoying me now...

It's always nice to hear Barney Title: Re: Help with a 'slip jig' Post by: StephenB on September 13, 2023, 08:32:27 PM I forgot to say though - that's half the job done, but any takers on the Fairport link?

The Fairport link was only a possibilty, sorry to mislead , I was just following up all possible leads Title: Re: Help with a 'slip jig' Post by: StephenB on September 14, 2023, 09:45:52 AM It's still possible - the problem is someone would need to know it, cos the name's not going to come up in their track titles
