Title: RT's Lowdens Post by: Pat Helms on September 16, 2023, 11:57:19 AM This is a lonesome part of the house. Hello. Hello?
I recently got a Lowden F25C (......which I'm enjoying very much!). Its gotten me curious. Does anyone know much about Richard's evolution with Lowden models. I guess it's pretty safe to say he did'nt start with a Richard Thompson Signature. First time I noticed him with one was between Amnesia and Rumour & Sigh. I've never seen him play one without a cedar top - so I'm guessing an early 20s model (if such designations even existed in the early 90s). Thanks! Since the early 1990s, Thompson has made prominent use of Lowden acoustic guitars for studio and live work; Lowden have made a signature model for him. Before this he used a Martin 000-18 as well as instruments built by Danny Ferrington. For live work, his acoustic guitars are fitted with a Sunrise pick-up and an internal condenser microphone. The output from the pick-up is usually fed into some effects pedals, typically a delay pedal and a Uni-Vibe. Hope that's at least a start. I saw him playing that in uk in 2007. Title: Re: RT's Lowdens Post by: Pat Helms on September 17, 2023, 03:16:37 PM I believe the Ferrington referance is to the one here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/236298311668525172/
Richard is pictured with his on both Small Town Romance and Hand of Kindness. Title: Re: RT's Lowdens Post by: Shane (Skirky) on September 17, 2023, 05:39:57 PM I'm sure there used to be a whole rig rundown on RT's website. If it's gone, The Way back Machine is a useful tool to dig out old content.
