Title: Johnnie Walker
Post by: Andy on October 27, 2024, 10:59:22 AM
End of an era for the absolutely magnificent Johnnie Walker this afternoon with Sounds Of The Seventies on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds. His last broadcast after 58 years. All the tracks selected by him, together with an interview with David Bowie.

A sad day, as it presages his demise from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in the very near future.

I'll miss the Sunday afternoon programme. I liked his style.

Well, that sounds particularly unpleasant.  Poor sod.

He and his wife have used their platform to raise awareness and to support the charity, Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis.

I listened to the final programme. Johnnie still sounded enthusiastic, which is all you can ask, I suppose.
