R4, 4pm yesterday. Just in case anyone doesn't know. A little dull I thought, don't think I'll have patience for a further five installments. Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: Alan2 on November 05, 2023, 11:05:31 AM More Joni on R4 yesterday evening 8pm. Rather good, lots of clips of her talking, from various eras.
Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: Alan2 on November 25, 2023, 08:52:28 AM Although I've not had a TV in my home for 40 odd years, I enjoyed r4 s hour long programme about Doctor Who last night. I'm old enough to just remember William Hartnell, and my older brother was a Doctor Who fan back then.

Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: Alan2 on August 19, 2024, 08:30:24 AM Nick Drake prom on Radio 3 I listened to this as a repeat last night. Was unsure for a short while then having adjusted to the new performances of what are for me very familiar songs, I enjoyed it. I found myself focusing on the words and even hearing the odd word I'd been mishearing for years. Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: mickf on August 20, 2024, 11:22:20 AM I listened on Sunday, too. Nice to hear some alternative versions of these songs. On the whole, very enjoyable.

"Our 'View from the Boundary' guest at the Oval is founding member of Genesis and award-winning composer Tony Banks!" It'll probably be available as a podcast later today. Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: Nick on September 14, 2024, 10:54:14 AM Well, it was last night, but I didn't have the ability to pay at the time...
Richard and Linda Thompson: A Little Night Music: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0022wbq From August 1981. Contributions from John Kirkpatrick, Dave Mattacks, Simon Nicol, Pat Donaldson. Worth a half hour I guess! Cheers Nick Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: StephenB on September 20, 2024, 11:02:44 PM A bit short notice, but I just see coming ip literally right now on BBC4, martin Carthy and friends. BBC4 sessions. "Revorded at Union Chapel, brings together some of his most important collaborators"
Followed at 1200 by Kate Rusby and 1230, Petrr Paul and Mary. Quite a musical fest... Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: Peter Allen on September 20, 2024, 11:49:59 PM such an atmospheric venue , not sure when it was recorded but Martin still on good form
Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: Alan2 on October 12, 2024, 10:53:39 AM Various people talking about the Joan Baez song 'Diamonds and Rust', on radio 4 Soul Music programme .
I'm pleased and somewhat surprised I'm still able to like this song after some 40 years since first hearing it. Other people's accounts of its personal significance are somewhat superfluous, but heck, let people enthuse. That is where my love of Joanie began.
Say what you like about that movie (and many people have), it had some fantastic music. Title: Re: Great Stuff - Listen Now Post by: Alan2 on October 20, 2024, 10:03:44 AM Shirley Collins on Desert Island Discs.
