A little dull I thought, don't think I'll have patience for a further five installments.

More Joni on R4 yesterday evening 8pm.  Rather good,  lots of  clips of her talking, from various eras.  

Although I've not had a TV in my home for 40 odd years, I enjoyed r4 s hour long programme about Doctor Who last night.  I'm old enough to just remember William Hartnell, and my older brother was a Doctor Who fan back then.

I listened to this as a repeat last night.

Was unsure for a short while then having adjusted to the new performances of what are for me very familiar  songs, I enjoyed it. I found myself focusing on the words and even hearing the odd word I'd been mishearing for years.

I listened on Sunday, too. Nice to hear some alternative versions of these songs. On the whole, very enjoyable.

A bit short notice, but I  just see coming ip literally right now on BBC4, martin Carthy and friends.  BBC4 sessions. "Revorded at Union Chapel, brings together some of his most important collaborators"
Followed at 1200 by Kate Rusby and 1230, Petrr Paul and Mary. Quite a musical fest...

such an atmospheric venue , not sure when it was recorded but Martin still on good form

Various people talking about the Joan Baez  song 'Diamonds and Rust',  on radio 4  Soul Music  programme .

I'm pleased and somewhat surprised  I'm still able to like this song after some 40 years since first hearing it.  Other people's accounts of its personal significance are somewhat superfluous, but heck, let people enthuse.

Yes isn't it.   I first heard it on a LP of Joan's Greatest Hits in the early 80s and I still have that record.

The Judas Priest version of Diamonds & Rust is also pretty good...

I'm surprised that anyone would cover such a personal and autobiographic song.

I first heard it during a screening of Ronaldo & Clara in about 1982. That is where my love of Joanie began.

Say what you like about that movie (and many people have), it had some fantastic music.
