Hi Peggy,

I was just wondering if you ever play any fretless bass?

Cheers, Mark

PS. Any chance of reuniting Robin and Barry Dransfield for Cropredy?!?

Hi. I had one of the first ever fretless basses which was made for me by Rob Armstrong in 1977. I used it on Tipplers tales and its heavily featured on Tulls "A" album. Also Murray Head and Steve Ashley and Ralph McTell albums I played on. I haven't played fretless for years as I don't consider my intonation good enough. I wouldn't want  peoples ears to suffer! I reckon that if you don't have frets on your instrument  you have to really work on intonation. Pastorious was the best, listen to his amazingly fast complex playing. All fretless, all bang in tune , and all before the magic button in the studio put it right pitch and time wise. There are some great fretless players that I love . Pino Palladino and Maart Allcock to name just 2 ! Best wishes, peggy.
