Having enjoyed the previous solo project, the Cocktail Cowboy goes it alone, I wonder if another solo project is in the offing and what motivates you to do solo work, as you always come across as such a great team player in Fairport?

Hi Brendan. The Cocktail Cowboy for me was an exercise in learning how to record. I had set up woodworms studio in the garage of our house in Barford St. Michael and thought I should learn the hard way rather than let clients suffer at my hands. I was the guinea pegg! It also gave me a chance to play guitar and mando. and drums and keyboard! and do stuff that I would not bring to the Fairport table. I am technophobic, and most things that I get close to eventually break down( including a scanner at my last medical check up!) I assumed different roles during the recording sessions. When it was my turn to be myself I went to the pub and returned and did my vocals very quickly. I am a team player, and prefer  to "give it a bit of backing" rather than be in the front. I don't think I have it in me to do another solo excursion, but I do have seriously good book material.
