You might be thinking either of Feast of Fiddles (violin-centric folk supergroup) or, I think they were called Tarras (kids from a music college in Calgary, Canada)

Could have been Barrage. Played in a tempest in 1999 [attachment deleted by admin]

Weren't Tarras the band from the Borders? They did two albums. Their second, Walking Down Mainstreet, is one of my favourites. I think they split up about 10 years ago!

Didnt Barrage play twice, last on at night and first on next morning? Saw them at the local club a few days later too.

I enjoyed Barrage so much at Cropredy, I bought their then current CD. Sadly nowhere near as exciting as their live show.

I seem to remember that Barrage always were more of a brand than a band. Their lineup wasn't fixed and there might even have been more than one at a time.
At Cropredy 1999 they played to very few people (due to a tempest), last on Friday. So they were given a second go on Saturday morning.
Whatever, they were a charming bunch of youngsters.

I loved them and still play the cd. I was under the impression that it was a bunch of college students finding a way to 'do' Europe in the summer Vac under the guidance of an inspired tutor. Energy in spades!

They're hardly alone in that!

I went to see them on a tour after Cropredy. (Ticket sales apparently went from zero to sold-out within days of the festival appearance.) If I recall they said they formed at University in Calgary. I got the impression the band was a project set up by one of the tutors there. That would explain an ever shifting line-up - not unlike a Uni Theatre group or dance troupe. Cheers Nick

If you have a look at their site ( www.barrage.ca) it seems they are marketed as a "show" rather than a "band" , so fluctuating membership over the years in a similar way to say Riverdance

Interesting - hadn't noticed that. I linked to that from the special offers page which lists it at £10:00

Hmmm, that was the album I bought after seeing them at Cropredy. Much better live IMHO.
