Easiest I've ever got in. Got there around 10ish and drove straight on to field 4 and had plenty of space to camp.

Arrived at 11am on Thursday. Very little traffic and I thought I'd just try for a different field (not 7) for a change. I was one of the last on F4 (two other cars made it in after me), and a spot was found for my little tent by the helpful Scouts. It was nice not having to queue back over the bridges at night, so I might try for that side again in future.
Rather parky at night, and sleeping with a fleece on inside my sleeping bag on Friday night was a good idea, until the sun woke me up in the morning and it was too warm!
Packed the tent up Sat morning, because of the bad weather forecast, and drove home after Fairport - only took me an hour and a quarter at that time of night!

For the first time ever,we stopped at a Britstop on the way up, rather than driving all the way from the south coast. Straight onto 7b and pitched at a nice pitch near the canal. Nearest the arena we have been for years.

We arrived at about 9.20 and had a clear drive through Williamscot and straight on to Field 4. We had a lovely view of the church tower - nothing between us and the bells! Loos and facilities all up to standard - warm water appreciated.

My trip was easy peasy apart from the closed road at Farthinghoe, which wasn't posted until I got into the village, which meant a track back to the M40 and a bit of a detour.
Straight up to the Gulag (field 7) and then directed by angry scout lady into a spot too narrow for a tent.
'Ha ha says I', I'll park the bus sideways,
'Oi'! Says she wot you doing! More angry now than when I arrived.
'Parking says I'.
'Oh', says she 'Do what you like'.
' OK says I', grinning like a fish.
Tents, yes two of them one tiny bivvy for the daughter and a family one for the son and daughter in law and the grandson and no I don't feel guilty our spot was tightly packed, economically spaced and we didn't have five tents, a motor home and a gazebo like the neighbors either side of us.
I slept in the VW bus so one less tent :-).
We were up the village 45 minutes later drinking beer and dancing in the Brasenose.
On convoys I was cut up by one trying to get into the entrance to field 7 as they streamed across my nose from the other direction and crossed in front on me but I can understand they went to all the trouble to meet up somewhere and travel together to the site so getting split up at the entrance because of having to give the right of way to the oncoming traffic would have spoiled their party so I can let that one go, my only thought is if you're going to travel in a group maybe plan your route so that you don't have to dick around risking a collision at junctions and particularly the entrance to the field. Remember the person you just irritated by driving across them on their right of way is quite probably going to be camping next you all weekend :-)
It was cold so I had to keep my socks on in my sleeping bag.
It rained so I got wet.
It was Cropredy so none of the above mattered ;-) x
