Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman with Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives: Sweetheart of the Rodeo 50th Anniversary Tour, being released for the first time on CD!
I saw this show in Austin in 2018, and it was one of the great concert experiences of my life. From the look on Chris Hillman's face, I think that was also true for him. (He looked genuinely surprised at each ovation. I guess he hasn't been a "rock star" in so long that he forgot what it's like.) I recall them telling stories or anecdotes between songs. For example, McGuinn introduced "The Christian Life" approximately as follows: "When we recorded this song, I didn't know what it was about. Now I know."
I hope some of the Austin performances are on the CD, but I haven't found such details on the intertubes. I have a decent audience recording of the Austin show, but I really look forward to a soundboard quality recording. As a bonus, the CD includes the tour's only performance of "Eight Miles High," from the final show in Florida. I can't wait to get my hands on this!
I recently watched an (unofficial) video compilation of the tour on YouTube - well worth seeking out. Marty and his band really lit a fire under proceedings. Clarence's guitar being the secret weapon. May well be buying this. Jules

I've cracked and ordered the upcoming release of Pallas: Eyes In The Night 1981-1986 (6 CDs and a BluRay of a live concert). I was holding out so well, but finally gave in!
I'm tempted to get this. Love a bit of Pallas. Last year's album, The Messenger, featuring the return of Alan Reed on vocals, was a very pleasant surprise. I have it, but struggled to get into it - I seem to recall the drums sounded a bit weird.

He'd been with the band for a couple of decades or more.

Think it may be this originated with his wife...

Queen 1, a remastered box set consisting of the first Queen album and numerous other bits on 6CDs and 1 LP for £149.99 will be released 25 October. I don't view this as essential. What the hell is the point of Queen without the toothy one warbling over the top? Padding ahoy. Jules

They already sold the rights to the existing Queen catalogue, for US$1.27BN, to Sony, in June, this is apparently included in the deal. So how they get any money from this is a bit of a mystery to me.

The band would still earn a few bob even if the publishing rights were sold. Jules

As I believe I may have mentioned, this issue is not of interest to me anyway, but that takes the biscuit.

But I just came away without a single memorable riff or melody in my head. These things sometimes grow on me.
