Deary me, he IS getting around a bit! He was on BBC Radio Six last night, with a bad throat, poor bloke. i was almost sure that he sang "i'm going to see off my friends" rather than "see all.." which may not have been the desired effect. I mean, even if you were going to see off all your friends (whether that means "dismiss", "kill", or "beat in a game of Scrabble"), you wouldn't necessarily announce it on national radio.
i wonder if Marr is a fairport fan? a few years ago some woman wrote this poem into the Today programme enthusing about her passion for him - I can only remember one couplet, which ran
"You wouldn't say he's cool or funky Oh, but he floats my boat with his ears like a monkey!"
To which Marr responded with a poetic effort stating that the appendages in question were actually satellite receivers. (i think he's married, so I don't think it was the start of a beautiful friendship.) Anyway, what I mean is, maybe he doesn't need to go to any of the gigs but just sits at home and orients his ears appropriately.

5 minute interview by Sophie Raworth...nothing of any real interest I'm afraid followed by a performace of "Oops, I did it again" at the end. Looked/sounded like Richard had a bit of a cold. I hope it gets a few more bums on seats for his gigs, but can't see any other reason for this particular interview or performance to be seen again. Raworth didn't seem to know who he was. At the handover, Marr seemed quite excited to have him on the show though....
[And it's clearly honeymoon time for leaders of the opposition. Marr only had one nasty question for Cameron, and he was lucky enough then to have the connection to his home broken so he didn't answer it. Our next Prime Minister reminds me an awful lot of the last one. Nice Mr Blair. Nice Mr Cameron. Yuk, yuk, yuk.... ]

I don't know whether Andrew Marr is a folkie or not, but in his newspaper column some years ago, he mentioned listening to Show of Hands Country Life CD in his car.

Yes, he was quoted as having a sore throat in another media piece the other day. Hey, at least someone is doing some useful PR for him at last, so let's not knock it....

I saw RT on the show this morning - it made me think - in the last couple of months I've seen Show of Hands cover The Stereophonics , The Saw Doctors cover a Sugababes song, Thea Gilmore do the Buzzcocks and now Richard Thompson covers Britney Spears. Eeh would tha' 'ave credited it when aah were a lad?
