Hi Maart,

With such a vast selection of quality instruments to play and sounds to cover, what is your current set up from instrument to audience?  Do you process the signal on stage or leave it to the sound engineer? Do certain instruments require certain treatments etc etc....

Hi Ade

1. If it's bass or acoustic I just plug it in and leave it to the sound engineer
2. If it's electric guitar or keyboards I add the effects I want then leave it to the sound engineer
3. I make sure I remember the sound engineer's name and make sure he/she's happy
4. If it's totally acoustic I make sure the instrument is in top form, new D'Addario strings, etc
5. In the studio I let the recording engineer get happy then change things to fit the mix

Is that just a straight DI on the bass or are you using some kind of amp simulator?

Hi Barry

No amp simulator involved. I have a pedal which takes a jack input and converts it into balanced line-level XLR output to keep the soundman happy, and it has a mute switch, though I tend to just turn the volume off on the bass. The bass I'm using live with BNC is a Hudson fretless, from Cranes of Cardiff. It's their own brand and excellent value, and has just one active pickup. The pedal requires 48v phantom power.
