As a great interpreter of songs who would you recommend as a new songwriter to watch out for, and also who are your favorites that you keep returning to.

My most recent favorite is Krista Detor. I think her album "Cover their eyes" is a modern masterpiece.
As a song, I also really love Michael Franti's "Oh my God"
If we can also stray into jazz, Kurt Elling is the best singer on the planet right now, in any genre.
I'm also very much looking forward to the new Natalie Merchant album.

Thanks. Had not heard of Krista Detor before, but after listening to a few tracks, have now ordered the CD.

Try Meg Hutchinson (won song-writing contests in the US, with good reason). Catchy too - one that tends to stay in the car for anytime listening.

Check out Juno-award winning Canadian singer/songwriter David Francey.
