Reading about his painting hobby reminds me of a story I heard about Jon Anderson. He was taking a holiday in, I think it was, one of the Channel Islands and found a hotel with a view over a harbour. His manager phoned the hotel and insisted Jon be given the room with the best view as he was bringing his painting stuff with him. The hotel owner obliged and the Yes singer arrived with all his canvases, paints etc.
After a few days the owner was overcome with curiosity and let himself in to Anderson's room only to discover there were no paintings of the harbour whatsoever. Somewhat puzzled by this he phoned Anderson's manager who told him, no Jon doesn't paint landscapes, he just wanted a room with a nice view while he painted his still lifes!
