Fairport at Himley Hall
«

Many moons ago (1990 or 91) a festival was held at Himley Hall near Dudley, which Fairport headlined.
The event was a bit of a disaster organisation wise, and was sparsely attended, but a good time was had none the less.
Did any one else on this board attend?
I'm trying to remember the other acts on that day - I kept the flyer for it (it was blue!) - but it seems to have gone walkies.
I seem to recall Climax Blues Band,Chicken Shack,John Mayall, and The Stubble Brothers.
Any ideas?

This comes up in a google search (from TAW):

70 tickets? I once saw Fairport at free open air gig at Himley Hall, near Dudley, at the end of a bill which also included (I think the Steve Gibbons Band.) By the time Fairport came on, for their hour`s set, there weren`t more than a hundred or so of us left

I have found the ticket for this.
Just to get this on the net for Fairport archivists:
There's no year on it,but I reckon it was 1990, Saturday 26th May.
It wasn't free for adults - it was (supposed to be) a fund raiser for Harmony House Dudley youth drop in project - and cost £15. I'm guessing youths got in free.
The bill was
The Stubble Brothers
Big Town Playboys
Climax Blues Band
Four On The Floor
Chicken Shack
Fairport Convention.
Seeing the small crowd were up for a jig,FC commented on it and played loads of jig sets.
This would have been my third Fairport gig overall, after Birmingham Town Hall shows in 1988 and 1990 (the second of which was partly released on CD and video/DVD) and the second of three that year.
The third, (and fourth overall) would be my first Cropredy .
I think it's safe to say I was hooked at this point.
