Well the news about Bruce Rowland posted earlier is sad, but on the other side of it, via Fairport's website comes news that Ashley will be receiving an MBE for services to folk music. Congratulations to him.

Eh, it's just an establishment pat on the back really, isn't it? I'm sure he'll be chuffed, but ultimately it's more important that his peers and other folk music people appreciate what he's done, I think.

Jeremy Hardy on the News Quiz "'David Cameron thinks Van Morrison is poor people's Ocado!'" I laughed at that too. I think Ashley deserves his MBE.

I sleep with the radio on and woke up at some point, i think around 5am only to hear Dotun Adebayo( sp?) Interviewing Ashley about his gong, they talked about most aspects of his career, FC, SS, Albions and Morris. How English trad music is different from Irish and it was all going very well until the interview finished and Dotun played "All around my hat".

The interview is on the 13th June show at around the 3hrs 47 minutes mark. There was also a snippet of SS doing Blackleg Miner from decades after Tyger had left. The show is on BBC Radio 5 "Up all night"
