The great Quincy Jones, aged 91.
Not really my preferred listening, but there can be no doubt of his immense contribution to music. In his honor, I listened to the Sanford and Son theme yesterday (no joke). It’s a great piece of music and constituted my first introduction to Quincy Jones. R.I.P.

R.I.P. Shel. I felt his Who recordings were superior to the Kit Lambert ones. Shel was a pro and Kit not so much when it came to production. A few years ago, Shel offered the master recordings for My Generation and the early singles for sale on eBay. Pete and The Who’s management stepped in and worked a deal that allowed Shel to mix the then-new My Generation Deluxe Edition, which I think sounds fantastic.

Not exactly a musician, but Stevie Horton, who did PR and bookings for many acts in the folk and acoustic realm, including our heroes, has apparently died rather suddenly and unexpectedly, according to a couple of FB posts I've seen, including one which said that Oysterband dedicated Put Out The Lights to her last night.

Such a dreadful shock 😥 Sad news - I've been in touch with Stevie over the last few years as her PR company have been submitting music for my radio show, which has been brilliant and of course very welcome. Only heard from her a few weeks ago. When our correspondence began, I was wondering where I'd met her - turns out she'd been the organiser of a 1979-2010 Cropredy T-shirt photo shoot that I participated in. We had to meet up in the field very early, well 9.30ish, and her main job was herding FC themselves and getting the guys to the shoot on time. Fun times, RIP Stevie...

The best bet would be to see if Simon Hadley, the photographer, would be willing to send you one. Here's a link to his site with a mysteriously edited version of the above montage (all of FC except Ric removed), contact details at the bottom of the page... https://www.simonhadley.co.uk/2010/09/fairports-cropredy-convention-project/
