Neil is very ill with cancer and it may well be his last Cropredy. "When my time is up I'm going to see all my friends..." Neil has been a great friend of the band for many years and he was allowed out of Swindon hospital to visit the festival. Top man.

That is very sad news Maart, thanks for letting us know.  Our thoughts, I am sure, with the great man and his family

That was a nice touch - thanks for letting us know Maart. I now understand why the reasons weren't given.

Ah that explains it.  :(Knowing he ran the bar for many years, he has a unique place in Cropredy's story. Smiley

This is sad news indeed.  I for one was very touched by his appearance at the end, but from my position at the front, saw, to my immense dismay, the Tiny Tin Lady girls, all smoking during MOTL while standing right next to him.  'Callow youth' comes to mind.  Our love and thoughts to Neil.

Neil has organised the bar at Cropredy for a long time now. I think he was working at the White Bear in Masham when he was introduced to Fairport....

A sad loss indeed. A glass will duly be raised in his memory tonight, as I recall many happy evenings and great music in the White Bear during Neil's tenure there.

Sad news indeed.

8pm - a bottle of 6X, "The Card Song", then a quick blast from "Swarb & Simon at the White Bear" in celebration/commemmoration of another departed Fairport/Cropredy stalwart.  Condolences to Neil's family and friends - he will be greatly missed.

I've just read Simon's obituary on the Fairport homepage.
I hadn't realised who Neil was. I saw him on stage at Cropredy in 2005.

RIP Neil. Cry
