Please post in this thread or send an IM to one of the moderators if you are able to help with the presentation of awards. Let us know who, when and where you can help out. We would like each award to be presented at a concert or public event where the winner is featured. Presenters should be be prepared with someone to take photos to display on the board and in the gallery. You should discuss the presentation of the award with the winner beforehand - leaping up on stage unnounced might not be a welcome move! You should also give us sufficient notice so that the trophy can be arranged - Mid february is the earliest we can consider making an award. We know that several of the winners are members of the board. If any winners are reading this; first "congratulations!" next, please send us an IM with ideas of where and/or how we might arrange the presentation. Cheers!

I've just received a package from Colin containing the first of the awards to be presented. I have one thing to say: These awards are absolutely superb! They are not some old two-bit, tinplate plaques. They are beautifully designed and crafted pieces of colour, weight and gravity. Were I a recipient I would be thrilled to receive an award like this. They are a fitting honour to Carey and they do the board proud. I propose a round of applause for Colin for putting the ideas together and getting the awards arranged, and for Ian Hughes at Maldonian* for making such beautiful work. (* spot the Talkawhile connection...!) All that's left to say about them is, I want one!!! Cheers Nick

The Hancocks 2006 are almost over. There is one trophy left to present. Polly Oxford and Snodin are set to offer that to John Tams in December.
Thank you to all those who have been involved in these awards; for those who have presented, those who have photographed and those who have applauded the winners.
Before we can wrap up these awards, we need just a few more photographs. If you presented an award or saw a presentation take place please check if there are any photographs that we might have to preserve the moments. From memory we are missing photos from Eliza and the Ratcatchers, Martin Simpson, and Mike Harding. If you have a review of a presentation please post that too.
Cheers!

Nick I've got some pix of my session with Mike Harding and I think I mailed you my presentation speech at the time. If not I've got a soft copy somewhere. I don't think I recorded Mike's initial response though - "I'm chuffed to me b*****ks!"

All shall be revealed on Wednesday ... a significant date in the Hancocks award calendar (and please don't ask why. See if you can work it out!) Cheers Nick

I have just come across this on the Martin Simpson website http://www.martinsimpson.com/"This year Martin won the Best Musician Award in the Hancock Awards and was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ards Guitar Festival, both of which he is very proud of. " Good, eh. Sandra

And board member MNartin Snodin gave us a plug in his Acoustic Sussex newsletter....
"STOP PRESS During the evening, John will be presented with a special award from the Folk Corporation. The award celebrates the best folk music that the 2,000+ members the Corporation have seen and heard over the course of the previous year. (For more information visit the Folk Corporation’s Talkawhile Discussion Forum.)"
Big up to martin.

Thanks Chris
The award was duly presented at the East Grinstead (Chequer Mead Arts Centre) concert last night, in front of an audience of c.200. Tams greatly appreciated it (and he particularly commented on the quality of the award itself). Sally Tams was given a bunch of flowers! Pics to follow.
Regards,
Martin

Here's the (rather out of focus) pic of John just after receiving the award (from Edwina Hayes, and myself). This is better just of John in mid-flow. Martin
