Ok
Here's one for all the Fairport buffs out there with too much time on their hands.
I have been ripping my 23 Fairport cds to my MP3 player and have noticed that Matty Groves has appeared on no less than 8 of these albums.
Does anybody know what is the most used track on Fairport albums inc live recordings? Does anybody care?
For a nanosecond i almost thought that it may be interesting to make my own little Matty Groves mini album to compare intros etc, i think that maybe a little too anal.

I've not heard that box set, is that the "Unconventionally Fairport" one? Even with 23 albums i don't think i've even scratched the surface of the fc Catalogue.

Matty is certainly the most played at Cropredy. I think Widow Of Westmorland comes up quite regularly too, along with Meet... But then I don't have a full catalogue : one or two live albums from any band is as much as I can take  |

Surely Meet on the Ledge must be the most played at Cropredy. Certainly every year since 79. memories of dear old Jonah wandering on stage to say, "We don't follow that!" |

Good point PLW. Meet's been played every year - although not always as the last number in the early 80s. However on a couple of occasions when Fairport have played both nights Matty has featured twice and Meet only on the Saturday so Matty'll just sneak it. |

I think Peggy once said he had played Matty in every gig he had ever played with fairport.
He did...but he hasn't!   Full House did it, Simon sung it a few times with the Angel Delight line-up, Roger Hill sung it, but then it was dropped for the Rosie/Nine line-up. Sandy sung it for a while in 74/75 but then got fed up with it, and it didn't really "stick" in the repetoire til it was revived for the Farewell tour in '79. At a guess, the one track that every line-up has done would be 'Dirty Linen' |
