Half Man Half Fishcuit

« on: July 31, 2006, 01:02:10 PM »

A friend of mine and occasional visitor to this board, Finovski telephoned me yesterday to ask me this question.

What ladies have performed (vocals wise) on stage with FC at Cropredy/Broughton castle etc.

we came up with the following

Jude, Cathy LeSurf, Chris While, Kellie While, Julie Matthews, Vicki Clayton, June Tabor, Julieanne Regan, Christine Collister poss?, Sam Brown,

Any more ?

Blimey....just a few, but my brain's not really in gear straight after lunch. Kristina Donahue held the "Sandy Spot" in I think 1999 and 2000. Whatever the girl out of Everything But The Girl is called ('Who Knows' in 1993).

It used to be much simpler - up until the late 80s it'd only been Jude, the unforgettable Linda Thompson in 1982, and then Cathy Lesurf unchallenged for a few years. Sheryl & Sheila Parker took over for 1988 and 1989....when they were joined by Julianne Regan, who appeared every year until 1992....Vikki appeared alongside Julianne from 1990 to 1992 and then held the mantle for a few years...Chris While had a year in 1994....then it starts getting a bit more complicated.

Poor Jacqui McShee last year of course....Anna Ryder...there'll be more.

Why 'Poor Jacqui McShee'??

She just about pinched the 'June Tabor Award' unfortunately. Wonderful singer but perhaps more suited to the acoustic Pentangle style of music than full electric band. I'm not sure if she was struggling with monitors or whatever but her 'Come All Ye' is a close second to June's 'Sailor's Life'.

Or Linda Thompson's "Sloth".

Tracey Thorn is the singer from everything but the girl.

Tracey Thorne (with an "e" I think?) is the one Tasha (well done again!)

Eddi Reader was the singer in Fairground Attraction - but she also guested with Fairport five or so years ago.

Here's a (sorry not very good) photo of Kellie/Chris While and Eddi in the Club Tent at Cambridge last Sunday.
