Can anyone work out the link between these two pictures and Fairport? Clues : it's nothing to do with FC music, none of FC's members appear in the film, nor do any of the specific locations associated with the band. In fact, I could have chosen any of many other Rank Organisation "Look At Life" films (they were 10-minute slice-of-life documentaries shown as support to the main feature in Odeon cinemas during the 50s, 60s and early 70s). But there *is* a Fairport link, albeit an obscure one.

This is making my brain hurt How about, 1st photo, look at life(from both sides now) 2nd photo, picture of clouds (from the joni mitchell song of the same name). DO i win a crackerjack pencil? Both sides now, as sung by Jude (inside information) Dyble.

'Fraid not!
Another clue : it's a person, and what he or she is doing. Nothing to do with music or song titles or anything like that.

Is it something to do with the gong and/or the person striking it?

Nope! Since it's pretty obscure, I could post one more picture that will either make you say "Oh, of course, THAT'S it!" or "Ummm, I'm none the wiser..."

Nope - as I said, it's nothing at all to do with FC music or songs.
Shall I go for the third pic?

Hot dog - we have a wiener! Tim Turner's Narration always stuck in my head as one of those wonderfully pretentious 60s band names, and after I bought the "Look at Life : Swingin' London" DVD a few months ago, I had my "Ah! So *that's* where Ashley got it from!" moment... IMDb suggests that Tim Turner may still be with us (he'll be 82 if he is)... you could make a fantastic little intro film for FC's Cropredy set next year in the style of the Look at Life series and get Tim to narrate it...

I'll just sort this bit out! Richard's first job after leaving school was with stained glass window maker Hans Unger, then he bcame a full time Fairporteer, and it was Simon who was the projectionist at a local cinema before he did the Fpt thing Jude

As I got the answer right I would like to claim my own prize and, with her kind permission, ask Jude if she would tell us something about Gerry Fitzgerald's 'Mouseproof' and her involvement with it. KeithP

Ok then Gerry lived in a flat in Notting Hill (before it got expensive) with my late husband Simon Stable (his working name),myself and another Simon (Prestwich). Gerry asked me to do some vocals on his album which I was happy to do. Unfortunately I was still contracted to the Red Bus Agency after Trader Horne had split up and because they were very cross they wouldn't allow me to be credited. I believe that there were similar problems with other people who played on 'Mouseproof' so there were hardly any credits at all and the album just disappeared as they were likely to do in those days. I sang on several of the tracks (although only credited on one) and the weirdest one was singing 'Onward Christian Soldiers' over some weird bit of scat singing. If you ever get to see the inlay you will see Gerry surrounded by a million different bits of electrical equipment in what was to eventually be the room in which Simon interviewed Roxy Music when they were just starting out. They were ever so sweet............ There. That's the short version.. Jude

I guess it's quite apt that we've just given him a Hancock award then Cheers Nick
