the thing is horslips dont tour any more and have only done a couple of gigs in ireland since the release of rollback Apologies - that's the CD I was thinking of...came out within the last 12 mionths? maybe its HORSLIPS THAT ARE DOING GLASTO!!!!!!!  I'm sure that I read somewhere it's the most successful line-up of Genesis? |

Roll Back was released in 2004. The wonderful DVD (Return Of The Dancehall Sweethearts) was released in 2005 I think Genesis is still speculation, Chris .... but my latest nightmare is in the Glasto thread  |

Horslips to sell out Cropredy on their own! Please explain? Whilst I quite like them I've never even considered them a second division band even on the basis of record sales, popularity or press coverage. Where are the extra 24,000 going to come from?
Moving Hearts I would dearly love to see but it would be tempting fate to ask them to play The Storm particularly if the rain god is on site!

Simple. Horslips is a legendary band who, if and when it decided to tour the UK, will easily sell out where-ever it plays. Such is the nature of legendary bands.
I did say the "original" Moving Hearts .... so "The Storm" would not be a risk!

But I bet a large percentage of Horslips UK fans are also Fairport fans, so the increase in numbers wouldn't necessarily be huge. |

Now let's not cause divisions - John Martyn solo on Friday night followed by Mostly Autumn just to get everyone singing along Karine Polwart and Juliet Turner are both pretty good, as is a girl called Hayley Hutchinson. You saw Hayley on the recent RT tour then ? No, I just bought the CD because Wogan kept playing a pop song she'd done. I was surprised (And pleased) to the find the rest of the album a diverse mix of songs. |

They've turned down B-Lee as they don't think there'd be sufficient demand outside the hardcore fans - and the fact that it's the 40th anniversarty of the band, not that album...

Any Tullie should have ceased to give a TOSS what the world thinks of them along about 1973 and the knowingly debased Passion Play. But those New York Dolls were great and memorable fun weren't they. I'm afraid IA has probably come to the conclusion that Cropredy is not a welcoming avenue for their sort, much as he hold's the Fairport's and their music, history in the deepest regard. I can tell you five bleedin Yanks who would surprise and entertain most, CJ Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band, (Son of the inventor of zydedo music, Clifton and the current highest practitioner of that most dancable of forms), Terrence Simien and the Mallet Playboys who would run a very close second, Dave Alvin, roadhouse music doesn't come any better defined, Bob Weir's Ratdog who have grown some mighty sharp teeth, and his longtime buddies and constant jewel's Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady usually known as Hot Tuna. And dare I add the Art Ensemble of Chicago. It's only magic filed under jazz after all. Cold black cats in policeman's hat's, nosing where the mice have been. Sorry Ian

But back to the Irish.
Already mentioned Christy Moore, (btw, brilliant idea wit Moving Hearts ) how about Chieftains ?
and - closer to FC
how about Dan Ar Braz and his Celtic project on Thursday evening ? With Excalibur II coming sometime later this year, this would make a nice place for for Simon, Peggy and Gerry to appear onThursday.

Good to hear about Excalibur II (any more info / website yet? - best start a new thread though!), but they looked at bringing some or all of Excalibur I over - and the costs were prohibitive. |
