"Liege and Lief" please and how about a set featuring the various Fairporters with Albion Band line ups - imagine seeing Julie While or someone similar fronting the band doing the Red Barn Murder etc.
Julie While? Is that a sort of genetically engineered hybrid of Chris While and Julie Matthews?

Can't see how bands like Marillion would fit but John Fogerty & Waterboys, yes please. What about Ray Davies and Al Stewart.

I'm not sure about the full-on Marillion show, might be a bit too loud for some sensitive souls , but the acoustic version would fit in rather well, probably about 5:00pm on Saturday afternoon. I'm hoping that the "Liege and Lief" line-up who appeared at the Radio 2 Folk Awards will make a showing at some point.

A complete performance of Babbacombe Lee would be a nice one off. (possibly with some added RT or JD guitar)
At this rate Fairport in one guise or another could be playing non stop for 3 days though.
And how about those Leatherat guys to wake everyone up on Friday lunch time?

How about one of the days being "related projects"? Swarb and Carthy; RT Band; Iain Matthews Plainsong; Jethro Tull featuring Pegg/Allcock/Sanders. You know the kind of thing.
P
Not a bad idea, but, PLEASE, not Jethro Tull again. I love their music, but their live performances are just so.....whats the word?.........decrepit these days Jethro Tull were anything but decrepit when I saw them earlier this year! Likewise - an excellent show in the Brighton Dome this year.

no marillion, there must be cheaper genesis tribute bands(although i dont want any of them either)
Only someone who hasn't heard a note that Marillion have made in the last 17 years could possibly state that. Since Fish left in the late 80's the Steve Hogarth band are a completely different beast indeed. And a very very fine one indeed. But still thoroughly inappropriate for Cropredy...so I guess we do agree, but for different reasons ;-) In any case, with the original (well not original but classic) Genesis lined up for Glastonbury I imagine Genesis fans will be well catered for in 2007.... My pleas for 2007: 1) Railroad Earth.... (check 'em out...great band)...2) Iain Matthews....doing exactly whatever he feels like doing! 3) an old school Richard Thompson Band set (you know...Simon, DM, Peggy, Gregson & Collister, Calvery Cross....etc etc!!) 4) a Full House set (but who does Swarb's vocals...Ummmm?) 5) and (this might upset some) NOT TOO MUCH messing about with Sandy tribute vocalists please...I can't bear it. WKWTTG and a couple of others if you must, but just stick the box-set on in between sets and we'll all remember just how completely unique she was anyway.... And finally, the easiest to set up which is of course an entire day set aside as a special Jude sub-festival....We'll have Trader Horne sets, Giles Giles & Fripp sets (that should be easy to sort - anyone volunteer stopping people 'flashing' so Robert will actually get on a British stage!), perhaps a Librarian set (Jude wanders around shelving and shouting 'shhhhhh' loudly every so often) and finally a complete performance of the first Fairport album plus Ribbon Bow... Now, that would do me just fine...

Excellent idea.... are you smoking a new brand? Lovely suggestion abour Plainsong... why not? Andy and iuain coulkd get another coupla types to do the biz.... god the original Plainsong were bloody good... LSE in 1972.... great! You can go whistle for Tull... while there have been stylistic overlaps over the years Tull have traditionally (ironic usage there) been too raucous... Swarb and Carthy would be the real treat here... they were so good together. Be nice to see Simes reunited in the great duo with Swarb too... (have you heard the one about the gynecologist ... etc etc... A "Bunch" like Rock'n Roll bit? I loved Richard Thompson's version of the fantastic Dion's "My Girl In The Month of May"... HELL WHY NOT INVITE DION? Now that WOULD be something... What about it??? And anyway all this was way before 1977! He He He
