I wish they would get away form the 'chicken in a basket' headliners for THursday/Friday next year, when you could have people like Great Big Sea, Bellowhead, Eliza Carthy, or some of the NuFolk stuff like Tunng. Of course its likely to be Tommo and two doses of Fairport if were lucky

So I guess you want Cheap Trick then Jim. Actually that's a great idea - They are a superb live band, and everyone would go home with a plectrum.

How about Ed Alleyne-Johnson ?? A one-man electric orchestra (with just one electric violin, no overdubs, or second takes !!). Double CD 'Echoes' has all the great rock covers. Check it out on www.muntfish.com/alleyne-johnson/echoes.phpAvailable for £9.99 from CD101.com

So no Excalibur II....?
PL - where did you get that info from? Tony - do you know anything?
Dave Pegg (I think -it was definitely one of the Fairporters) mentioned in the programme that they had been recording it. can't be more definite - my programme is in England and I'm back in Africa.

Now I haven't gone back through the 97 odd volumes of this thread - so if my suggestions are repeats - just ignore it - you lot usually do anyway ( maybe it's the accent..)
Waterboys - a must for the Friday night, but only if Mike has stopped looking up his own ar*e and has gone Celtic again.
Hayseed Dixie - that middle of sat afternoon slot when we need a lift.
John Martyn again - and 2008, and 2009
john Kirkpatrick
The Pipes and Drums of the Field Marshall Montgomery Memorial pipe band - well., they're a hell of a sight better than King Digestive
The Papa George band
Yes - Thursday night headline
And beer at the same price it was 40 years ago...........................

How about this then? Thursday night - Old Crow Medicine Show or KT Tunstall Friday Night - John Tams and Barry Moore (saw them at Cambridge this year and liked what I heard) Saturday - Hayseed Dixie, The Big Yin (but would he stoop to our level) and Fairport doing there personal favorite tracks. and please no Ralph McTell IMHO great song writer, but could leave the singing to others.

Dream nights for me. . .
Thursday night - Oysterband Friday Night - Jethro Tull Saturday - Show of Hands, followed by a very long Fairport set, including guest appearances by Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, James Taylor and Robert Plant.
Then I could die happy.
I have arranged precisely this line up..... so get on with it

Steve Earle for Friday night? Then we could have Mrs Earle (Alison Moorer ) as well.
Wouldn't that be something [Drooling Smiley] With Steve's marital record do you really think they'll still be an item in a year's time?? His alimony payments to the 6 previous Mrs Earles are keeping rural Tennessee's economy afloat!

To throw some laid-back, BRITISH, blues into the works: Eddie Martin.
To fill the 'Who He?' slot: Jinder. Absolutely mind-blowing (in my case, just a small explosion) talent in the form of a Fine Young Man from the south-west. (He used to live near Cropredy and the sounds he heard then helped to develop his musical interests.)
Friday night headliners: Dixie Chicks!!!!!! Yeeeeeeee-harrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! Failing that, La Bottaine Souriante.

Friday Night - John Tams and Barry Moore (saw them at Cambridge this year and liked what I heard) Do you mean Barry Coope? If not, who is Barry Moore? :-) Waterboys - a must for the Friday night, but only if Mike has stopped looking up his own ar*e and has gone Celtic again. Not sure if he has,m, unfortunately - but they get a vote from my better half! The Papa George band Are they still together? Bloody good band in the past (Blues / RnB) but I thought he was solo these days? Vot against for Yes - sorry, they'd bore most to tears these days.
