This set me thinking. Have Fairport ever had a non-white member? Guest? Toouring companion(s)? I've searched my memory for carribean or african faces in the crowd at Cropredy and can remember, actually, none. Wendy said she remembers some, but not many.
Please note, I'm not saying anyone is prejudiced or anything like that, just making an observation.

Certainly FC have put on plenty of non-white acts at Cropredy over the years, not this year perhaps but T&LaTouche, EII, Afro Celts, Osibisa. Musafir to name but a few. And Simon tells a story about jamming with Hendrix, and the band were signed to Island records for many years so who knows who they may have played with on an informal level. Oh yes, and a ooad of them played with Joan Armatrading. But, as to a guest on a UK tour, as opposed to a Cropredy walk on, I can't recall any. Jackdaw

Blues has more in common with folk and celtic then Africa in my opinion. Listen to many of the classics. No poly rythm, clapping, western tuning, etc. So they have a variation of folk as well. They just call it differently.
