On an un - miked toy drumkit, nice idea but i just didnt see the point of bringing him on to not do much. Still its always nice to see the esteem in which he is held by fellow musicians |

I've just watched the Broughton Castle reunion from 1981 and what a revelation. Although the sound and picture quality are average at best, what comes across is how good the band are and they seem to be having more fun than I've ever seen them have. Simon dancing and jumping around, Swarb fiddling like a man possessed, the sound being dominated by Peggys bass but showing him to be a unique player. I'd love to see this cleaned up if possible and given an official release. The set was mammoth at over 4 hrs but what a great document it could be.

Guessing because there are visible pauses between songs that maybe the source tape quality was poorer on the missing songs and thus left out?
Just spent a happy evening watching it, and tomorrow hopefully will watch the set from 1982, which is also up.

The Broughton Castle reunion set on you tube is not the full set by any means. At the end the compere, ( anyone know who he is ? ), says that they did 4hrs and 10 mins. The full set list is in the booklet in the Cropredy Capers box. In the film Judy Dyble, looking extremely nervous, sings Both Sides Now but according to the book, she also sang When Will I Be Loved.

In a letter from Videotech sent with my replacement copy (returned for a hideous bass hum & very fully rectified), there's a comment regarding the release the GPs Friday set being problematic due difficulties with one of the performers, no prizes for guessing which. So, there's confirmation that it was filmed & hopefully, the footage still exists somewhere.
It would be nice given today's impovement in technology, whe whole Fairport set could eventually see the light of day, but I'll not hold my breath.
The same applies to '82, where the video release was only a portion of the whole.
