And another one with a slightly less nauseous camera technique & some nice close ups, I can even see me!

2nd row in front of the mic Simon used, when it's zooming in during the standing ovation, I look like a girl from behind though as my hair was down Tiara

Well, actually thanks to Chris B, who first spotted it (reply #157). Whatever - it's good to see it again. So rare to see Anne Briggs on camera, and even rarer to hear her talk with such warmth about Sandy. Makes you realise what a cracker a Sandy documentary could be if Bob Harris manages to get it together.

On the contrary - they were good mates, albeit with divergent lifestyles (see Sandy's "The Pond and the Stream"). Sorry, Jules. I expressed myself badly. What I meant was that it's rare to hear her talking about her old friend, and her comments in this interview, about Sandy's "sense of song", show particular warmth.

Oh yes of course - I'd forgotten that The Pond And The Stream featured 'Annie'.

It's interesting the way that the reporter describes her as 'The voice of Fairport Convention' considering she was only with them for a total or 3 or 4 years, out of 40. Just shows what a huge impact she had on the band.

Independent Newspaper article: ’Fair Play To Her’

Sandy Denny: Fair play to her

She became a Seventies folk icon, but faded out in a haze of alcohol abuse. Now Sandy Denny, voice of Fairport Convention, is getting the recognition she deserves, writes Robert Webb

That's a bit harsh isn't it?? Shocked

"She even rejoined Fairport Convention, for a half-hearted reunion set, Rising for the Moon."
That's a bit harsh too! There are one or two not particularly good songs on RFTM, but I'd hardly call "One More Chance" half-hearted. Interesting article, though - thanks for the link.

I suppose it seems sacreligious to say so, but I saw James Taylor last year when he came to the UK and I thought Fairport's version of Frozen Man is better.

I'm still a big fan of JT tho' having been introduced to his music when I was 12 by my older brother.
