That's an interesting bass Peggy's playing.. anyone know anything about it?? Tony??
He played it at Chesham last night ... for the first few songs, anyway. It sounded good and I would have liked him to play it some more. It is rather large and he kept adjusting his position - I don't know if he found it uncomfortable It wasn't that Bass, it was a different one! That makes sense as I thought he sold all his instruments a few years back when he and Chris split up. Certainly he changed his main bass at about that time, mind you Peggy often does a sort of shoulder shuffle when playing as if he isn't entirely happy with the way the bass is set on his shoulders. I think I am right in saying that Peggy has recently acquired a Stonebridge acoustic bass, which he played at his birthday bash. No idea what the original one in the clip was, though.
As for shuffling his shoulders, I should think after playing a bass for over 40 years, anyone would!

I just had another look at the Youtube clip and you are right - the one he had at Chesham was even bigger! I thought the electric bass sounded much better - the acoustic didn't produce a very even sound across the range of pitch.

But at least the other one was *acoustic*

To back up what Malcolm has posted, Peggy has said in the past that suffers with back pain due to many years of lugging heavy bass guitars around. As a back pain suffer myself and just a little about loads on structures, I can't say that I am suprised.

Cropredy '83 - Simon tunes his Rickenbacker in some very tasteful shorts and Peggy opines, topless. Steady girls, he's taken.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeXnkkxdRR4&feature=relatedThe usual apologies for any unwitting double posting but while I'm here, Simon & Swarb doing Time To Ring Some Changes, from 1981. Blimey, you did spend a lot of time at Pebble Mill, didn't you Mr. Nicol? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq4g6aiEYWQ&feature=relatedAnd while I'm on a roll, MotL from Broughton Castle. An impossibly youthful looking SN, and Swarb remembering to take his tab out before singing the chorus. It looks like Ralph McTell sharing/avoiding the fumes and doing a sterling finger-in-the-ear turn. Two drummers too. "See you next year" says Simon at the end. Little did he know... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g10UT1WgEFs&feature=related

It keeps stopping after every seven or eight seconds. Is there anything I can do to correct this? Let it load all the way to the end...ie click on it, leave it for (?) 5 mins, come back and press play again...
