Given the chatter about the relative merits of past & present line-ups, it's probably worth re-posting a link to this half hour of sheer delight from 1970. Not new, but I only saw it for the first time last night. The exuberance of the performance provides that spark of excitement that is, to my ears, all too rare these days. I have seen this one in color. I believe this is the one that keeps getting pulled from YT periodically, unless I am mistaken. So if I have it right, Baton Rouge (with Judy and Iain) is on Youtube in color and b & w as is this one. |

Always nice to see RT supporting the bhoys, up the Celts, YNWA, Hail hail. A mate of mine proudly showed me a photo of RT with a Celtic badge pinned to his beret. I was able to trump him big style with this clip! Don't know if it's commonly known that RT's great uncle was Bert Thomson who was one of Celtic's best players in the 1930s. He also played and scored for Scotland! He died at the young age of 30 and a crowd of 10,000 attended his funeral. There must be a song in there!? |

These videos for me wasn't about the songs...it was more the band as a 'close up' act watching how skilfully they do play, Simon's voice seemed so rich and it made me appreciate them more musically somehow.  |
