I don't know if this has been mentioned here before but I just found this:

4 of us with Fairport - Going south

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io9oRN1fV8k

To me it seems the old men could still rock if they wanted to

I'll just drop this here.  Smiley

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXsoi0OsULGZorPOax4jqUQ

A YouTube channel with a number of rare late-70s / early 80s Fairport videos - and the complete performance of Carthy & Swarbrick from Once More With Felix in 1967!

I'm reliably informed (by the channel owner) that these are from the BBC archives.

The era that style forgot - Swarb in a kaftan, Simon tartan jacket. DM rocking the geography teacher look and Peggy looking like he's just popped in from a spot of gardening.

Blimey they must have scared the hell out of the punks!!

Sarah Green? Where?

Something I thought I'd never see is a slightly worse for wear David Soul interacting with Swarb and Simon! Whatever happened to dimpled beer glasses?

It seems that channel with all the Fairport rarities has been taken down due to multiple copyright infringements. I'm not sure what else he had on there, but I'd be surprised if it was due solely to the FC videos.

The Carthy / Swarbrick / Felix 1967 video is back up elsewhere however, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_liRz8LJ90

At the 1969 Royal Festival Hall "Liege & Lief" premiere show, Fairport performed the country standard Just A Little Talk With Jesus. This is the only known recording of it - very poor quality, but rare. It's only an excerpt, and fades out during Swarb's yodel. Smiley  Apparently, it's Sandy on the violin.

Fair play to her -  had no idea she could.  And she does an alright job too.

Interesting! In some Fairport/Sandy collection of photos I have seen a photo of her holding a fiddle, but assumed she was just goofing around. So how many people have picked up a fiddle for Fairport now, if even for a 'limited' performance? Swarb, Ric, Chris, Simon, Peggy, Roger Burridge, Sandy, Maart...any others?

Just noticed this.  Many thanks, very nice.  Scrolling down, it is also good to see a few of the numbers that Pentangle performed, as they play so rarely these days.  The Pretty Things set, too.

I was hoping to get to the Million Dollar Bash myself, but dog-sitting duties intervened.  Friends who went tell me that the music was excellent, but the catering was chaotic.  One dreadful burger van for the entire field!  Makes you really grateful for Cropredy.  At the event, they mentioned that they intend to hold a similar one-dayer next year, to commemorate the 1970 festival.
