Penury awaits.

The new Pentangle box set 'The Time Has Come 1967-1973' is released on Jan 15.

There's a fantastic full page 4-star review in the Feb Mojo...the only gripe seems to be that it wasn't 5 discs long!

Sad as this fact make me feel, I don't imagine anybody else will be able to match this price...

Isn't this like the 5th Pentangle box set? I believe I own two of them.
What is this to justify buying it?

Stand in Smiths - read the review in Mojo.  You'll want it.

So what Pentangle box sets have you got then?  I can't think of one beyond the 3-CD collection....??

When I was 15, my art teacher taught me Bert Janch's version of Anji during the lunch breaks, I've been hooked on him and the rest of Pentangle ever since.

If you have all the music already I can think of no reason to pay for the music exec's coke habits by buying the same songs all over again  Grin.

I'm a bit fed up with all the repackaging that goes on

I'm not sure what you mean by "Stand in Smiths" ... is the Mojo review online?
Pentangling
Light Flight: The Anthology (I guess this isn't really a box set ... )
The Pentangle Family
OK, so "5th" was a definite exaggeration.   Roll Eyes

Stand in W.H. Smith's (a renowned...nay, well known anyway) UK newsagents.

Semantics probably but to my mind:

Pentangling is a 3-disc compilation of the band
Light Flight is a 2-disc compilation of the band
The Pentangle family is a 2-disc compilation of the band and it's solo artists.

and this is the first proper Box set - a 4-CD set that includes some material already released but a weath of unreleased material, much of it live, along with a decent book(let) and biographical material.  Like a box set should do...

Whoops!!  I can't believe they are doing a 4-CD set so cheap...the usual rate is about 39.99...but I'm glad they are...thanks!

My main reason for citing it was it was the only place I found that provided even a few details beyond the track listing.

I've just found it on US Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Time-Has-Come-1967-1973-Pentangle/dp/B000EPF8LC

$19.95  Shocked with the current exchange rate, that makes it just over a tenner! even with postage and duty it will come in around £15

There has to be a SNAFU about these prices...they can't be right.  No new 4-CD box set is that cheap is it?
