Hi all
Does anyone here know who plays what on the individual tracks on the Old Fashioned Waltz album?
In the booklet of the Boxful of Treasures set, Dave Pegg talks about recording the song with DM and Richard Thompson overdubbing later.
The personnel listing for Solo, on the other hand, credits the members of Fotheringay as playing o nthe track (Jerry, Trevor, Gerry and Pat are all listed, plus other musicians).
So who's right? Peggy or whoever compiled the personnel details?

Drums: If you listen to that energy outburst right before the final chorus, that couldn't possibly be anyone else than Dave Mattacks.
Bass: Pretty sure this is Peggy
Guitar: Listening to the guitar solo, I'd say this definitely sounds more like RT than Jerry (though I've never asked any of them).
Trev's probably in there somewhere and also Rabbit on some keyboards, I'd say. My guess - nothing more.

On the vinyl box set of Who Knows Where the Time Goes there is a live version of Solo which may give you some clues: Jerry Donahue, lead guitar; Trevor Lucas, rhythm; Swarb, violin; Sandy, piano; Peggy, bass and DM, drums.
Whispering Grass is from the original and lists Diz Disley on guitar, Ian Armit, piano; Danny Thompson , bass and DM, drums.
Friends: Jerry D, lead; Trevor, rhythm; SD, piano; Pat Donaldson, Bass; DM, drums.

The lead on the studio version of 'Solo' is definitely RT; Jerry Donahue plays the lead guitar on the rest of the album though (bar the two jazzy Inkspots tunes).

Thanks again. I reckon I've got a good ear but I'm so impressed by both RT and JD that I sometimes can't tell them apart. Same with DM and GC.
