OOhh thanks for that Jude... so pleased it went well but why the early finish??
I guess that's the "timing and licensing issues" Jude spoke of. That was it exactly.....

They played Matty at Southport as well, complete with an excellent electric intro from SN

10.00pm on the nail, or we all turned into yobs and trashed Chippy central, apparently

That's another topic. I only mentioned it because Simon did, several times However, there were still people milling around after 11.00pm, which was about when we left. Eating cake, mostly.

The last I saw of the cake was a not very big pile of crumbs (double fist if that) being oggled by a young girl (about 7). They probably didn't last much longer.
Others have spoken about the gig itself. I'm pretty bad at reviews, so I'll just say "wonderful" - for both groups and their combinations.
I was amazed by how quiet the town centre was at night. I was staying at The Bell, and reduced to a fast food kebab. I heard / saw very little traffic after 23;00. Perhaps the curfew is enforced by shoot on sight patrols.

Thanks Mart! I've never been called "burly" before. Usually it's chickenlegs or foureyes. Burly Bernie

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet but here is a video of Beth singing WKWTTG at Croydon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tcYesLREcI The sound quality isn't very good, but it shows what talent that girl has

It might be nice, but I'm afraid I didn't get beyond this line "Even in the early 80s when - let's not split what's left of hairs here - they were rubbish" which is about the most inaccurate and misinformed distortion of the (well, my!) truth there is. They were magnificent in the early 80's...

I think that's the oblique point the reviewer is making....

And very good they were too. I can prove both points.

I'm sure I saw the Pegg Nicol Rowlands Swarbrick line up in the early 80s, after the "farewell" tour.
