I really like the humerous in music, and got to wondering how many parodies of Fairport songs, or songs recorded by Fairport?
Fatty Groves by The Kipper Family is probably the gold standard*; A Murder Ballad by Mrs Ackroyd Band also 'quotes' Matty Groves, and; Dipsticks and Seals (Slip Jigs and reels) by the same artist qualifies.
Any others?
* When the Kippers supported Whipersnaper at Darlington Arts centre, a very pissed off looking Swarb appeared round the curtain as they performed this, much to the amusement of the audience.

Personally I wouldn't give him house room. Don't find him funny at all. But I'm in a minority.

Anyway, back to the subject, if you check this URL http://www.mcvax.org/jghall/fairport/songs.html there are some written parodies, the is Smoggy Groves, Roll Over Gilbert and Sullivan, The Crowd Goes to a Different Festival..., Few Woodlands Matty (Matty Groves translated into German and back again!) and lass@hexhamshire.co.uk Most of these are thanks to Phill 'Widds' Widdows .

Laughing out loud at Few Woodlands Matty, and especially this verse:-
"Oh, I like recess your feather/spring bed and - recess, Which I like, your pages however Me likes your lady homosexual improves, Who is appropriate for lord Darnell in my sleeping levers "
Heh.
