Well that's interesting. Is it all previously released stuff? Great front cover. Better than many of the official front covers!

The music paper competition he refers to ran in the NME. Four or five drawings that were supposed to illustrate the titles of various Fairport numbers. I distrinctly remember The Hen's March medley and Polly On The Shore being two of the correct answers. If it goes for £50, it's a steal. I've seen it go for well over a hundred quid. As for me, I really only need the copy I already own.

Starting at £50, it'll be approaching £150 at least at auction-close, I reckon

Back in 75, I was offered a free copy of the tour sampler by a friend who worked in a record shop (Hot Wax) in Liverpool. I already had all the tracks, so turned down the offer. B*gger!
Mind you, I have got a copy of the "Sandy at the BBC" CD....

Many years ago before Cd's I had all of Fairport's (vinyl) albums apart form Fairport Live at the LA Troubadour, which had been deleted for some time.. In sheer desperation I rang up Island Records asking if they had any copies stashed away in a vault. Sadly no but a couple of days later I got a phone call from the lady I spoke to and she said she had found an old 1975 tour sampler which was no use to man or beast and she sent it out to me for free!!! It was all tracks previously released on various albums, but the idea was to give a fair representation of what Fairport was about in those days and was handed out to radio stations prior to the 1975 tour. As stated in the EBay auction only 500 were pressed and therefore mine has never been played never mind once or twice. I wonder how much that makes it worth?!!

I've got one of these, that I won in the competition. A couple of years later I saw a copy at the second hand record stall in Cardiff market. I passed it up, as I didn't see the point in having two copies. Damn!

I picked this up for £4 in a secondhand record shop quite a while back. I knew it was worth somewhat more than that, of course, and tried hard to walk slowly and calmly to the cash desk without shouting out "idiots ... this is a steal"!
I managed it...
