Here's a chance to own a work of art and a piece of Fairport history. Sadly, I have to sell the guitar from Fairports Red & Gold album cover. The guitar is an Epiphone model NO-295. The reason for the sale is I've bought an Avalon so several others will have to go to pay for it. I bought it for £300 a few years ago from Spencer Richards who is credited for the artwork on the album. At the time the neck was coming away from the body at the heel, this was rectified by Sheehans of Leicester at a cost of around £120 (the receipt will be included). Unfortunately, the chap who carried out the repair took it upon himself to clean the bridge and replace the missing pin (grrr), so it doesn't look exactly as it did on the album, no doubt an artist could rectify this if need be. Other than that, the action is a little high and the machine heads could do with lubricating. It's been hanging on my wall and hasn't left the house since the repair. It sounds lovely. Spencer had a hard time with idiots when he originally tried to sell it on ebay so I'm trying to avoid that route, though if it doesn't sell here, that's where it will end up. Sealed bids for a minimum of £400 are welcomed. The highest bid received before June 1st will win the guitar. A hard case can be supplied for an additional £30 (mandatory if the guitar is sent by courier). Options for payment & delivery will be as follows : Cash on collection from North West Leicester. Paypal or cheque. Cash on personal delivery within 100 miles of Leicester at a cost of 50p a mile each way. Delivery by insured courier at cost. Bids should be sent to redandgoldguitar@googlemail.com, any questions can be emailed or posted here. Bids should include a land line telephone number for verification. If you bid, best of luck. If you know of someone not on talkawhile who might be interested please do tell them. Pictures to follow. Thank you to Colin for allowing the ad', I owe you a pint.

Does that mean that we have to pay a minimum of £400? Hope not, haven't go that sort of money. You mentioned other guitars have to go too....

Yes, there are three others, a Steinberger Spirit, an Ibanez seven string jumbo and a Vintage twelve string jumbo, they'll go on ebay as there's nothing particularly special about them.

Falling in love with a Martin is one thing. Falling in love with a twelve-string is something entirely different!

Directly painted, acrylic I believe so water proof. No sealing.
