I thought I'd read something about a benefit cd made of many rare tracks from multiple bands for Trevor and Sandy's daughter. She had just had twins and was to help them out. Anything come of this?

Georgia's taste certainly isn't in the folk or folk-rock vein....
That Cd got released & I have a copy. Been sold out for ages though - perhaps someone can remind me which one of 1000s that I have, is it?
John Penhallow could contact Georgia. But I suspect more professional tributes might be forthcoming...
Yup, "Georgia on Our Mind". Came out in 1997, masterminded by Ralph McTell, David Suff and Danny Thompson. I have a copy. Don't play it much but I remember the RT Band doing "John the Gun" live as one highlight. Re publishing rights - look at the Contents page of Maart's Sandy Songbook - he lists the publishers against each song. There are several to deal with, which probably makes the whole thing more complicated. He could tell us. Chris's point about "professional tributes" is bang-on. That's why I started this thread - to try and flush out whether anything is being planned by the High Command, either a special concert or a tribute album (or both). Not yet, as far as I can discover. |

Did so. Linde Nijland says she is touring Germany in early April 2008 but could visit the UK later in the month and would love to take part in an event. Do folks want to go ahead with this concert idea? If so who else do we want to see involved? On the CD front, I've had interest from one record company, probably based around existing covers of Sandy's songs, so this idea may also have legs. |

I wouldn't necessarily plan for anything too close to the anniversary, because it may turn out that a professionally organised (i.e. by FC, or relations) might have their own ideas...and we wouldn't want a clash, would we?

Linde Nijland's album of Sandy songs is gorgeous (we did a CD swap a while ago, after we got to know one another on MySpace); her version of North Star Grassman on the Ygdrassil album 'Easy Sunrise' is also excellent. We are going to see her when she is in the UK next month, and we're really looking forward to it. |
