Performances on Top of the Pops were generally mimed, though I believe artists were supposed to do this to a specially recorded a special TOTP version rather than the original, (though I gather this rule wasn't always strictly adhered to by some artists).

This particular TOTP-version seems to be of a somewhat later date,  
as the text sections contain info about Ralph's children TV career
in the early and mid 80's. Since the title is "TOTP2", I assume it's
some kind of nostalgia series about the original TOTP-hits ?

Any idea when this was first broadcast ?  (TOTP2)

Each TOTP2 programme is indeed a recent selection of individual songs cut from the original weekly "Top of the Pops" shows.

The clip in question was probably broadcast (with the explanatory text overlaid) a couple of years ago. The original "Top of the Pops" recording would have been when Streets was high in the UK music chart.

My original post was tongue-in-cheek. I Knew it was mimed, just amazed that they would include instruments and backing that was clearly not part of the performance.

Great stuff - and a very rare version, I believe.  
Thanks a lot for alerting us - I had just about given
up all hope about any more old Ralph clips suddenly
surfacing.

Been a bit busy, married off a daughter, my son has taken 16 weeks off work to go round the world (thank godness he returned safe and sound). AND I have a new boss in work.

But, my son has done the business with the clip and has put it on my computer, may thanks for your kind offer though.
