beefy bass lines, huge power chords, soaring fiddle parts all underpinned by fantastic drumming - give me Jam's O'Donnells or Fiddlestix any time over Ric's twee instrumental noodlings. Jackdaw

I tend to prefer the songs with vocals myself. Many of the instrumentals all blur into one for me. The main exceptions being the haunting and beautiful Battle Of The Somme, and the instrumentals which lead into Ye Mariners All....and that's because they do indeed lead into Ye Mariners All!

Battle Of The Somme - isn't that Albions rather than FC? -please can someone remind me what it's on? I do love it to pieces on several versions though, am I just confusing easily?

Battle of the somme and fiddlestix are my favorite instrumentals by FC.

They must do Sloth at Cropredy this year - PLEASE everyone agree with me!!!
For them to omit Sloth in an anniversary year would be quite a shock! I wouldn't be too worried about it. However, this should be the year for A Sailors Life though! Its been 20 years (hard to believe!) and its time has come. Chris would give it the justice it deserves!

While, please! But you're right, Jim. I'd rather hear Slim Pickens (freshly risen from the grave) give it a try, than have Ms. Tabor attempt a reprise. I know someone said it was due, unfortunately, to a poor monitor mix on stage, but lightning CAN strike twice!! Its just not worth the risk. People's lives are at stake!

In fact, I seem to recall that it has appeared before, some years ago.

"Flatback Caper". Or if our friends on stage want to keep the instrumentals short and concise- so we can have a magnificent "Sloth" - I'm very fond of the little nice "Peggy's Pub" , which, I believe has got an outing in the Peggy/PJ context?

Come to think of it: now when there´s a number of brilliant guitar players at Cropredy, why not play "Hanks For The Memory" as a reminder of what musical context the early Fairport-would-be grew out of?
