For the 40th anniversary, I wish they would devote some extra time to Fairport 67, as I always wanted to hear their version of East-West (or is it Chilli Beans/Warm Nights), Crucifixion and It's Alright Ma, It's Only Witchcraft.

I wasn't thinking just about the vocals, but also all the little instrumental parts on the Fairport version were written by Swarb, and are very much in his style. It's really a Swarb showcase, and I'm not sure anyone else could tackle the song as essayed on Tipplers Tales. Of course Swarb will be there, but I can't see him volunteering to just play the fiddle on a song for which he once played such a central role. Of course anyone could play the song in a different arrangement, but I thought Swarb's arrangement for Tipplers Tales was breathtakingly good. Jules |

I´m a bit confused if we´re talking of songs we never tire of and/or want to hear at Cropredy this year, but while some of the last posts have been in the vicinity of the late 70´s Swarb-Simon-Peggy-Bruce line -up I would very much like Simon to give "The Poor Ditching Boy" a go in August. He had a nice edge to his voice in the 70´s. His voice has mellowed and matured but if it´s still within his vocal range, I loved that version.
